Depends. If there was further context regarding WHY these inspections were happening, it could be funny. Say it had to do with abstinence only education: funny. Say it had to do with ensuring they weren't having abortions: funny. If there's no context, it's just lazy, but not UNfunny exactly.

Here's how I explain situations like this:

GOOD bad taste subverts the status quo, while BAD bad taste gives the status quo a leg-up.

This is clearly a case of the latter.

Has anyone got the results of their State Wallet Inspections back yet? I sent mine in as requested a few weeks ago and was expecting it back by now...........

Senior pranks are conceived by teenagers to be funny to other teenagers, so 9 times out of 10 they're dogshit.

my gut reaction was to vote for inappropriate but then I stopped to think. And I had to wonder 'what kind of complete doofus would you have to be to fall for something that stupid?'

So I think if they were making a statement then it's just immature and funny. If they really expected anyone to fall for it then they are stupider than the people they sent it to and I weep for the future.

Might as well prepare the students and their parents for what they can expect when the TeaParty/Republican Party takes over.

Senior prank. In San Francisco, there was a Mandatory Penis Inspection letter at a high school. The good thing is that the people behind it managed a pretty clever prank without vandalism; the bad thing is that, according to the article linked below, they probably just googled the prank and plagiarized it. And so the vagina inspection is not funny because it's not original.

Hi-larious! I used to want to put a sign that read, "Vaginal Wellness Clinic - walk ins welcome" in my apt window.

@10 - Walk-in vaginas sound really nice in concept--so luxurious and spacious--but they're ultimately just impractical.

I'm with @15. The joke is how much time the school administration and news put into this stupid joke.

Since it didn't target a specific individual, what is the big deal? Bet the administration is putting more time into this than their last school bullying or sexual harassment incident! And I'm sure the news media is.

At least the San Francisco news outlet referred to in @9 above got that it was a joke, and treated it as such. "The reality is, it takes great skill to pull off a great senior prank, one that does not destroy property and includes creativity, intelligence and perfect planning."

The news media in Minnesota treated it like the idea that it could a threat to something could be credible.

Considering that more than one state now requires invasive medical procedures for all women who seek an abortion, the "outrage" over this prank seems misplaced.

Mandatory vaginal ultrasounds are a reality.

Did they only ask boys if they found it funny? No one asked a girl who knew they student culture whether it seemed like a hilarious send-up of uptight adults or just a creepy prank?
