It is probably because everyone would be too embarrassed to admit they were visiting a religious site on the internet.
2
If you don't require background checks and safe procedures for your Youth Pastors, why would you need any safeguards for using the Internet? Doesn't Jesus protect you from stuff you don't like?

Transference of fear and self-loathing to an authoritarian vessel. It's catharsis. [God] absorbs their dread with his narrative. Because of this, he's effective at proportion to the amount of certainty he can project. Certain linguistic anthropologists think that religion is a language virus that rewrites pathways in the brain. Dulls critical thinking.
4
@3 - did you mean to quote that? "language virus taht rewrites pathways in the brain"...intense.
5
Religious sites use volunteers. Porn sites hire professionals. Simple as that.
6
Prayer is about as effective an anti-virus method as it is everything else.
7
People are more likely to forget to wear a condom when they visit a religious site.

If I was downright evil instead of mildly opportunistic, I'd be running scams or marrying women and offing them for the life insurance. And the obvious place to find marks is in a church. The only people they accept more than fellow members are people they (think that they) converted.

Second after churches would be groups "featuring ideological themes" as the article mentions - what a fellow gun nut or even an airplane aficionado will do for you is amazing.

Why do I think this is a good thing?

Oh, yeah - maybe they won't be able to access the 'net because they are too frickin' dumb to use an anti-virus and the virus destroys their computer.

Hey, idiots, maybe God is telling you something when your computer gets infected three plus times per year.

This is really old news... I <3 you Dan, and would like to hear your thoughts on yesterday's SCOTUS decision rather than a reblog from 2012.
11
(It's new news to me).

Good thing I prefer the former to the latter.
12
Just as a teen with Christian parents is more likely to cause a pregnancy and spread disease than a teen with slutty parents.

@3: Religion is the opiate of the masses. --Marx. Or to say it more accurately: Religion...is the opium of the people.

Either way, you are correct.

Also: Christian Mingle (find Gd's match for you) was used by a serial killer to find victims. NOT other sited, but that one.
14
Well of course! Abstinence-only education, friends.
15
@13: I'm a Jew in a long-term relationship and Facebook keeps giving me ChristianMingle ads.
I shall keep saying this every time someone mentions Facebook ads or ChristianMingle.
16
@4: Oh, you gotta read Snow Crash. That idea was the most interesting aspect of the book, and the rest of it wasn't bad either.
17
@4 It's Matthew McConaughey going on a tangent in True Detective.

Please wait...

and remember to be decent to everyone
all of the time.
