Netflix has to pay those fees they're now being charged by Comcrap.
2
Prices going up for *new* customers or at least right now that's what it is.

I'd pay just as much for one movie at the local video store as I would for a larger selection of movies and television shows that I can either stream or have mailed to me and keep for as long as I want. Go to my local video store? No thanks.

Are there any local video stores? It seems to be all Redbox now, and the one in the U District.

@4 Rain City Video's in Frelard, Crown Hill, and Magnolia. They're pretty legit with the selection and knowledgeable staff. No where close to ScareCrow though.

Screw Netflix and Hulu Plus. Between The Pirate Bay and Project Free TV, all you need is internet access.

For the amount of tv and movies I watch on Netflix it's still a better deal than the video store and Netflix doesn't have a predatory business model. I'm sorry to see local businesses failing but the video store business model, as it stands, is terrible. Furthermore, it's not like this whole Netflix thing is new. Video stores have had over a decade to adapt and they have refused to do so.
