Hold up only in the sense, that the neighborhoods are split up but thats due to class not race. If a well off black family moved into an area with a good school no one would stop them from going there.

I agree desegregation hasn't been successful. But, I believe there is far more to it than just persistent racism and issues of class. The decline of the urban manufacturing core, decline of the conventional family and poverty are reasons among others as well. It is very unfortunate and complicated.

And Ansel, you are likely far too young to realize that Seattlewas in the process of resegregation over twelve plus years ago. Anyone remember the principal at Ballard that resigned? What you are reporting isn't news. We have been living it in Seattle for well over a decade, and nobody gives a shit.
