Why even have a courtship? Does relationship compatibility even matter when the woman is supposed to be submissive and both spouses' role is to have tons of children as quickly as possible? Just get married already.

I really laughed at the letter they quoted from:

I love HOW the GIRLS IN THE FAMILY KNOW THAT THEY HAVE VALUE. THAT THEY ARE WORTH SOMETHING, THAT DIGNITY counts, and THEY VALUE THEMSELVES.

Their value seems to be in popping out many children and they are worth only that to the men.

I do think that Mr. Savage undervalues virginity and chaste behavior, but the harassment of gay teenagers is a pervasive social problem in the U.S. and Mr. Savage's column is not.
