If they want more artists to show up we would gladly do it, just make it more accessible. I am not going to pay $20 to get into a show. I cannot afford and I am unwilling to pay to become a member. Let us in for free or a drastically reduced rate. Make an 'Artist Card.' We want to be involved. When I think of going to the galleries and other events I gladly jump at the chance. When I think of going to SAM I think I am going to have to pay money, so lets not go. We want to like you SAM we really do.

Only met her once but found her amazingly approachable as well as brilliant. Loved the events whe masterminded. I wish her all the best and hope some day she will be like a salmon and come back, at least for a visit.

Excluding some "special exhibitions", SAM's admission is a suggested donation. You could see LaToya Ruby Frazier's exhibition for a penny if that was all you had to offer.

Also I think that, regarding showing up, she was speaking more broadly than events at SAM and more to the point of artists stop saying we only have time for ours and our friends events and broadening the scope of things which we support. If we want the community at large to be supportive of a diverse spectrum of arts and culture we should lead by example. She certainly did.
