And speaking of euphemisms, I feel that the Stranger has been ignoring its own style guide's encouragement of frequent employment of the word fuck.

Or has said style guide been updated and adapted for 1890s London?

Well, let's say this Twinkie represents the normal amount of psychokinetic energy in the New York area. Based on this morning's sample, it would be a Twinkie... thirty-five feet long, weighing approximately six hundred pounds.

That's a big twinkie.

I was a child of Minneapolis in the 80's and I don't remember that giant dildo news broadcast.

Pretty funny though.

We(media, public figures, ordinary people) need to call out "Shitty" when we see it. The censored adjective most needed to describe 21st century USA.

Our economy, our politics, our businesses, our entertainment, our jobs, our bosses. Your behavior. We end up exaggerating. Then some asshole comes along and tells us "Shut up, what are you complaining about, it's not that bad". Okay, maybe it's not Worst.Ever(until it is).

But it's still Shitty.

Wait — everybody in this country is getting butt-fucked by a handful of multi-billionaires, and we're not supposed to say "fuck?" Screw that shit.

So, the Stranger didn't send anyone to ECCC? Really?!?

@6

Oh, I remember there were some great posts and pictures last year. This must be part of the new editorial direction, or maybe it's just that their new culture editor is still learning about the PNW and didn't assign anyone.

Last week there was a post here about the Oregonian requiring reporters to post three new blog pieces each day in order to qualify for end-of-year bonuses. Someone asked if there was actually something wrong with that and someone else (well, me) commented that it depended on whether you wanted reporters to spend their time pursuing and developing important stories or just posting frivolous crap.

I don't know what the salary policy of the SF Chronicle is--they are owned by Hearst, like the P-I--but here is an example of the kind of crap that shows up there now that they favor bloggers to reporters. It's a follow-up to the arrest of State Senator Yee on corruption charges and it's a photo gallery of what well-known Hollywood actors would be cast in a movie about the Yee saga. Seriously, they posted that, and it's one of the three feature stories on their main page.

Bad maps for logging.

Forgetting about iron pipes in the tunnel's path.

Isn't one of the primary jobs of State planners to keep accurate information on the cities, roads and landscape?

Hasn't this been the case since the...oh, the Roman Empire.

And by the way...we have online databases now, in case Olympia hasn't heard.

Why listen to them grubbing for taxes, when they don't even do the basic job?

@9 you provide great examples of why we need more government, private industry will fuck us every time when left alone. The state told STP the pipes were there, even though another contractor lied about removing them.

Also, @9, libertarian wackadoos in Snohomish County fought for more than twenty years against officials trying to get them not to build in the path of known landslide and flood hazards, even attempting secession, and they nearly succeeded. At least four people connected with this "revolt," a couple and two family members, are now among the missing and/or dead.

Please wait...
