FYI, I just tried donating $10 to Red Cross and their auto-response said I was donating $25.

Hmm, I don't really trust the Red Cross, and @1's experience seems to confirm my mistrust. I don't need to have $23 of my $10 donation going to administrators' bonuses and anther $1.50 of it going to public relations.

And what's Jen going to do about it? You call up the Red Cross to complain that you got charged an extra $15 and you come across sounding like a total asshole.

Rather than looking for excuses not to give money, how about 30 seconds of research? 90.7 of the money the Red Cross receives goes to the products and services they deliver.

And the evil that men do lives after them, so we've heard, and so it goes, too, with Elizabeth Dole.

Thanks for the post update with the other option, as well as the original Snohomish County link, BJC.

There are many local options to Red Cross:

Cascade Valley Hospital: http://www.youcaring.com/nonprofits/casc…

United Way of Snohomish County: https://ssl.charityweb.net/uwsc/?custom8…

Chip in for gas with crazy mofo Get Jesse: http://www.king5.com/news/get-jesse/Jess…

I asked where he had moved from: "I'm tired of your questions. I don't even know who you are."

Typical NW bipolar behavior.

Yell at people for paying attention and tell them "you are not like us", then demand attention "because we are us".

Fuck locals.

I just went to the Snohomish County United Way donation page and it was super easy - the automatic default for donations was for the mudslide

they're saying now to please just donate cash -- they have all the food they can stock and plenty of clothes. cash and shell gas cards (the only station in darrington is a shell) are the biggest help, but especially cash. most people lost everything, and there are a lot of funerals to pay for, too.

this page has more info: http://www.thenewstribune.com/2014/03/28…

you can also donate to summer's memorial fund set up by her brother to pay for her funeral here: http://www.crowdrise.com/SummerRaffoMemo…

and jesse taylor is raising money with oso strong shirts here: https://www.booster.com/osostrong
