Only five, Dan? You mean you completely missed that he's also obviously atheist, communist, and gay? And that he beats his wife as well?

I swear, the weed is slowing you down, man.

I'm not surprised. Governor John Hickenlooper is a Democrat but is very blue dog. He came to Colorado and a geologist for the oil industry, and when that collapsed here in the early 80s he ended up opening the state's first microbrewery/pub and got into real estate at the same time. He's been just short of being outright hostile to legalized MJ the entire time it's been an issue. His office may well have asked them to amplify the stereotyping in the PSA.

Hey, Pro-l Pot, stop being so bi-phobic.
4
Not sure if Hick had anything to do with this ad or not, but virtually every politician in Colorado has been incredibly hostile to legalization, so this should surprise no-one.
6
They did miss the red eyes, rings around said eyes, pale yellow blotchy complexion, incessant giggling and grunge music.
7
Why is no one else in the group high?
8
To be fair (i.e., devil's advocate), pot smokers have done more to reinforce the stereotypes against them than any anti-pot smokers have done.
9
Where are the Doritos?

@5: But if was a scene from Cheech & Chong it wouldn't be.

The point of being stoned is to be stoned. If you're driving and you're stoned then [fill in the blank yourself]!

I thought it was funny.
The humor depends on the exploitation of so-common-as-to-be-hackneyed stereotypes.

#10 is right. And #9 makes a good point. There should have been more.
12
How about as Black as can be w/o obviously being Black? A new take on (puff puff) passing.
13
Maybe he's just a common example of the stoners the cops pull over for driving while stoned.

Tangential: this ad already did the rounds a few months ago, but I love rewatching it. Pot's not even legal in NZ yet.

I drive better high than most people do sober. They should make driving while sucking at driving illegal.
16
@8 "To be fair"? Bullshit. You call slander against hundreds of millions of people by powerful corporate interests "fair"? Then you're not the devil's advocate--You're a schmuck.
17
I don't need any chemical or herbal assistance to be that scatterbrained.

It's an OK advert: it's moderately funny. And it gets the message across.

I'm just astonished at how many people (@15, for example) think that driving stoned is OK. Even people who would never drive drunk think it's OK to drive stoned.

It slows your reactions, and it impairs your judgement. That's the fucking point of getting stoned. If the marijuana you are smoking leaves you safe to drive, you need to get a new fucking dealer, because he's selling you oregano. And if the marijuana you are smoking does what it's supposed to do, DO NOT FUCKING DRIVE.

I am all for legalisation. But not stupidity.
