Coal is destined for export, but its part of freight mobility hence safe from regulation. We actually refine gas in the state and ship it domestically.

This is stupid and short sided, gas prices will rise, and it detracts from coal demand globally decreasing, despite everyone trying frantically to get public money to cash in on it. ( new terminals etc )

@1 I always heard that brass tacks is Cockney rhyming slang for "facts".
5
I hope that Inslee puts a moratorium on new oil terminals but I am not holding my breath. For all of his 100% pro-environment voting record in congress, he already caved on water standards since elected governor.

@4 as if your advocacy for gas guzzling and associated climate change didn't impact the lifestyle of the rest of the world for the foreseeable future, jackass.

7
@5 I am not such a self absorbed hypocrite to not know that *most* of our current consumer economy is powered by oil. ( even the fair trade farmers market ones! )

Also you completely missed the fact these imaginary blocked oil terminals are a made up wedge issue, to distract from the ACTUAL CURRENT MASSIVE coal export industry, or did you miss the mile long trains downtown 8 times a day?

City Council resolutions do nothing.

And this is the true end of Slog: Goldy's gone and there's a new troll named meanie.
9
Are your wasteland jobs and money more important then the continued existence of life itself or your grand children's future lives? Are you ignorant shortsighted robots? Fossil fuels can be eliminated by moving to alternative energy sources, and it will create a vibrant economy to boot. Stop being a tool of greedy, warmongering billioniares. Plant a garden and pull your head out of your ass!

troll @7 apparently can't hold 2 not even conflicting ideas at once in his little damaged head. Who is going to break it out to him that one can be both against oil trains and against coal trains, or against oil trains and realize that the fossil fuel consumer economy has to be phased out. Go away, troll.
11
Governor Cuomo has been exercising state authority to protect his citizens from under-regulated oil trains while all Governor Inslee's Department of Apology can do is explain what they can't do.
12
Perhaps we should offer to open brothels for the wives and daughters of oil and coal proponents to work for extra income if they, the proponents, are so inclined to prostitute our health, safety and environment for a few bucks. Fair is fair.

Way to go Seattle. Now we need to hear from Spokane and other communities who share the same risk potential.
