Great report. Thank you. I hope the Brett character wasn't unintentional, otherwise BR is going to have a problem on their hands...

I couldn't make the first two events, hoping to make it to Naked City on the 13th. However, I've had the Reuben's Blimy, which is has a lot of hop flavor and bitterness, and Stoup's III IPA is amazingly smooth. Whiny is wonderful as well. As you say, these are strong - great to taste them side by side at a sitting (as long as you don't have to drive afterwards) - is also great to go to the respective breweries and have them along with some beers under 10% ABV.

Nicely done. I'm cynical of beer reviewers, but it sounds like you know what you are talking about. Nice pick up on the ipa pairing with spicy food.

I was at Brouwers for the opening event. Got there at 2000, five hours after it started, and a third of the kegs were already blown. The first two beers i ordered blew, didn't get to try them, had a beer, next one also blew, didn't get to try it. By the time I left at 2130 they were down to four.

This event seemed poorly executed for something so heavily advertised. One sixth barrel of each is not enough. Also, there was no printout describing the beer, just what brewery and the ABV. Which is doubly concerning because they have descriptions available on the website, shouldn't be too hard to print that. The server was no help. (not her fault, the place was packed and they had zero time to try any of them)

I love IPA's so I'll try to make it to the Naked City one, perhaps I can get there early enough when there's still beer to be had.

Please wait...
