Important story that certainly is being overlooked. Thailand is the 12th most unequal country on the CIA list, looking up at nearly all of sub-Saharan Africa and way up at Mexico. The elite there is among the most embedded, least self made, and most blissfully entitled in the world (think what Gangnam Style lampoons - yes I know that's Korea). It's one of the worst in the world in women's equality too. The emergent middle class and expats ignore these issues but the numbers don't lie and shit definitely could get hairy over there.

Maybe the National Anti-Corruption Committee will find her guilty in regards to the rice scheme, which would force her to resign and stay out of politics for five years. But then there's Thaksin's son, Panthongtae Shinawatra. When government bank customers withdrew about $1 billion reacting to the bank loaning money to the government, the son deposited over $300 into the bank himself. Still, the bank retracted the loan and the bank president resigned.
