@3 "Not guilty" is a verdict which means innocent. You could say "not found guilty" and be less misleading. Or better yet, say what actually happened - hung jury on the first degree murder charge.

I'd feel bad for the snake dude, but he refused medical treatment that could have easily saved him. When paramedics with antivenin show up on your doorstep, who's to say God didn't send them?

It does seem strange that they could convict him of attempted murder for trying & failing to kill the other 3 people in the car, but couldn't convict him of actual murder for the 1 person he succeeded in killing.

Been thinking about that Ethiopian pilot/hijacker/asylum-seeker... Took me a while, but here's my conclusion:

Schmucky the Co-pilot should be locked up as a hijacker. He was flying to fucking Rome, not Mogadishu or Pyongyang. He could have skipped out on his crew and shopped around for asylum at all the embassies there after his regularly scheduled flight. What's the theoretical advantage of landing in Switzerland over Italy? The two countries have perfect diplomatic relations with all the other Western nations.
