He sounds and acts like a Roman emperor.

There's at least one homo in the city—the truth is buried in the mayor's name.

We are everywhere!

If it really were a human rights issue, the whole world woulda come around by now. Doesn't look like it's happening any time soon.

And today there's a new draft law - it will ban "propaganda" of all sexual relations among minors.

Or rather "information that promotes prioritizing of sexual relations to the detriment of family values, spiritual and intellectual development."

@Confluence, right, if it were a REAL human rights issue, the world would do something. Like we did in Darfur, right? Also, are you saying gay Russians aren't real humans or that they simply don't exist?

Jesus F. Christ on a Segway, do we have to see people being stoned before we take action? With apologies to the hard working athletes, we all need to boycott Sochi. Personally, I won't even be watching the Olympics on TV this year.

By habits he probably means no buttfucking in public places. Like bushes, parks, bathrooms etc etc etc...
8
Dan is learning, just like Ed Snowden, that Russia and the U.S. aren't quite the same places. Stop the presses!
9
@7 Nope. By "habits" he means even appearing in public with a same-sex partner of any kind, or even implying support for any LGBT people in any way. See comment @8 above.

No boycott. Gayest Olympics ever. That'll show 'em.
12
That ad should be real =(

He has to be using the word "cleanse" on purpose as it has so much historical baggage. You'd think a country that paid such a steep price fighting Hitler would be loath to take on his wording. How do you say "My Struggle" in Russian?

Ticket sales for the Sochi Games are way off expected numbers. Very few Americans are showing interest in attending the Sochi Games. We must keep pushing the boycott and we have to include sponsors and media coverage in the boycott. Anyone and everyone participating in these Olympics should be hate-shamed into backing away. Once the attention of the world moves on after the Games, does the "cleansing" begin? Berlin 1936 has many parallels to Sochi 2014.

Mr Ophian - If Jeffrey B had unretired, we could have looked forward to seeing the large presence in the stands of a huge contingent of Buttle Buddies (I don't know if the group still exists, but I'm sure a return would have led to its revival).

Seriously, though, unfortunately the IOC would never stand for the gayest Olympics ever (and it would be pretty hard to outdo the original), and they'll probably crack down on any attempts.

@13: Моя борьба, according to Google.

As for me, I can boycott Coke and the Olympics, but I don't drink Coke and I wasn't going to watch anyway. Does it do any good?
17
So, what happens when the Olympics are a financial failure. The ignorant and homophobic russian pieces of shit will blame their own gay people and things will go badly for them. Let's hope it's over quickly, the russians win a lot of gold medals and no gay persons are hurt.

> "information that promotes prioritizing of sexual relations to the detriment of family values, spiritual and intellectual development."

That really surprises me, the last official Kremlin position on sex-ed was that premarital sex is good, and unprotected premarital sex is better. There was endless reporting in the west about how unprotected sex was promoted during the camping events of the Kremlin backed nationalist Nashi youth groups. This was supposedly because the Kremlin was worried about the strategic and economic consequences of Russia's extremely low birth rate. (IE no young workers and no young soldiers)

Google only finds me rightwing fear-mongering about this and I don't feel like doing a lot of googling on "young Russian sex +nashi" from my work computer... "the enemy is outbreading us" is a bit of a staple among made up propaganda but maybe there is reputable sources as well http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-…

These pro-Putin nationalist Nashi youth groups were set up in response to the young people who (with western suggestions and backing) overthrew Russian backed dictatorships in Ukraine and Georgia. With the current situation in Ukraine heating up again, maybe Kremlin funding for Nashi will go up again. Or maybe the Kremlin will just cozy up further to the church to strengthen its base of old religious people, this was what pussy riot was protesting. When the Ukrainian government that people are trying to overthrow rejected an EU economic cooperation treaty it organized its own counter rallies. Of course economic treaties tend not to get people out in the street, so part of the government fearmongering was that getting closer to the EU would mean Ukraine would be forced to accept gay marriage.

You know... in case anyone want to read some more on the subject of actually sexually harmful propaganda aimed at Russias young people.

Please wait...
