Sad story, but it makes me sick every time I read "the first fatality" I know they are talking about the first fatality for THEM but it's an insult to the memory of Oscar Grant, and anyone else murdered, excuse me, accidentally shot to death by BART officers.
@3 I own any number of dangerous things in my home. Like a table saw. Yes, I have a healthy goddamn respect for the damage that thing can do. A friend of mine is missing four fingers thanks to accidentally sawing them off years ago.
Call it fear if you want. Same thing. Any gun owner that doesn't have that respect tinged with the fear of things going wrong shouldn't own a gun.
Dude. Afraid is all you are. Everything you say is an expression of the fear that determines your every choice. You really think you're fooling anybody?
According to the real firearms experts, the military, if you're not practicing an HOUR A DAY on the range (or weekly all-day turns), you're not trained with your firearm. You're just waving around an adult pacifier that may be calming you psychologically but is seriously damaging your safety and that of those around you.
I dunno, to me this sounds a bit like police trying to be too military-swat without good stress training. Vests aren't foolproof, but something tells me it was a wild shot and I'm not sure why the BART force would be the best choice for serving the warrant regarding theft of fellow BART force property
http://www.sfgate.com/crime/article/BART… a probation search - one involving the empty apartment of a suspect who has been in custody since last week
....
Nelson said the shooting happened after several BART officers went to an apartment in a modern complex of three-story buildings to search a home connected to a man suspected of committing robberies on BART property.
Sources identified that suspect as John Henry Lee, 20. He was bitten by a police dog and arrested by San Leandro police Thursday after officials said he led officers on a 20-minute chase into Oakland. Lee had been armed with a handgun and was driving a Honda stolen from a BART lot, police said.
The officers who were conducting the search in Dublin - all of whom wore bulletproof vests but were not part of a SWAT team - forced entry into the apartment, Nelson said, before "one officer fired a shot, which fatally struck another officer."
@3, 9: American states with higher rates of gun ownership tend to have higher rates of suicide. You can lie all you want, but nobody will ever take you seriously until you start accepting what the facts say.
@13
My internet stalker who makes thinly veiled suggestions that I kill myself, why are you limiting yourself to only American states?
There is an entire world out there that you, my internet stalker who makes thinly veiled suggestions that I kill myself, are ignoring.
But given that you had to be corrected on whether a negative suicide existed or not http://www.thestranger.com/slog/archives…
"This doesn't mean that the number you added was negative,"
And you have no idea what a negative correlation is http://www.thestranger.com/slog/archives…
"There is no such thing as a negative suicide, but there is such thing as a negative correlation."
I have an internet stalker.
And my internet stalker likes to make thinly veiled suggestions that I kill myself.
I'm curious if John Henry Lee, 20, will be charged with the death of the BART officer? I don't know CA law, but I'm certain the BART officer who shot and killed another BART officer will not be charged, if history tells us anything.
@23: Yes, those are direct quotes from me. No, those quotes don't prove what you think they do. (Anyone who follows the links will be reminded of just how idiotic you are.) Here, lemme try:

Because they are not afraid.

Goldy called it "fear". I even quoted it for you. If you have a problem with Goldy's usage then bring it up with him.

You DO know that's a sign of fear (fear of criticism or of being challenged, to be precise) yes?

Traditionaly BART officers can kill with impunity.
In Failifornia Law Enforcement is clearly superior to the unarmed peasantry.
