But Sanford wasn't one of the obstacles to reform, far from it. He was one of the most enthusiastic reformers, which earned him the ire of many in the rank-and-file, including SPOG. I really don't think this is about who is and isn't a reformer, this is about jockeying for position and power.
@2: perhaps...but what if he's doing something wrong? From what he's done so far it seems that Murray has been completely snookered by the anti-reform faction and has put them squarely in the driver's seat. If he's not a lot more careful going forward, he will seriously regret not learning more about SPD.
I happen to know Mike Sanford personally (we went through school together). While I have only had limited contact with him as an adult, he was a well respected and well liked person through school. I always thought of him as an honorable person. I don't have any idea of the inside politics at the SPD, but this is sad for me.
