A group of armed men confronting a group of unarmed mothers... the cowardice is beyond words.
2
Fucktards indeed.

I hate morons like these.
3
Pictures like these need to be on every front page. They are clearly aching to shot these uppity womenz- fuck man they're mothers have even a tiny scrap of human decency!! These are the same kind of dickless cowards who would shot an unarmed teenager in the face when she asked for help. Keep that in mind people- these monsters want to protect their right to kill any one of us whenever they deem it necessary.

There are 2 basic rules to gun ownership I have been taught since I was 4 years old.

1. All guns are loaded.

2. Don't brandish a gun unless you mean to use it.

These fucking people scare the shit out of me.

Breaking News: Goldie has formed a new Facebook group

Dads Against Dickless Bullies

6
Why are so many people who argue for gun rights the people who should NOT have a gun to begin with?
7
Talk about a dumb plan. Way to not think through the consequences of your actions, "Texas Open Carry". Talk about destroying your own arguments with counter-productive actions.
8
Other than they're short two RPGs and a half a dozen shirt collars, they could be this Shia militia in Basra.

Oh, another important difference: The Islamic militia guys are posing with their weapons pointed up in the air. The rednecks are brandishing theirs like they're ready to start shooting.

Aren't there laws against menacing in Texas? Disturbing the peace, at least?
9
I'm going to see this photo on reddit with a million upvotes praising these men, aren't I?
10
Ugh, these open carry assholes. There's a brand new shooting range in Cowlitz County. At the entrance is a big sign that says "open carry prohibited at this facility". That's at a gun range. In Cowlitz County. Where they appear to actually appreciate basic firearms safety procedures.

The thing that bugs me most about these yahoos is how disrespectful they are of other people. Dude in the red shirt looks like he's spoiling for a firefight. I'd hate to be a cop in this town and have the possibility of having to deal with these shitbirds.
11
In the article, the restaurant owners state they were afraid to call the police, due to their anxiety of a riot breaking out. Being that it's Texas, I doubt the police would've responded, anyway.

Imagine for a minute that these douchebags with guns were black, or middle eastern. The police would have responded with everything in their over-militarized arsenal, and gunned them all down.
12
i don't see "dickless". i see 100% fucking dicks.
13
@8
hey you brooklyn reader, thems rednecks are nothin like the Isamic shia whatever scum. them rednecks are red white and blue muricans who go over to the middle east and kill kill kill them arabs. it does no good for us fellow muricans, but them US rednecks are fightin to protect israel. them rednecks kill kill kill for Israel. True US colors. thank you rednecks, you dickless 100% fucking dicks, for help keeping Israel safe, by killing killing killing.
14
Thanks, gun nuts! You make it so easy for us.
16
These people are lunatics. It's bullshit like this that can kick off a little regional civil war like in the Balkans. And these morons only THINK they want that.
17
@15

that's ok sausage, i lost respect for your opinion about 20 comments ago.

Cheer on Veterans Day! All the men and women who died and killed to end Hitler's empire, all the men and women who.... Eh, forget it, a bunch of dead soldiers, who gives a fuck about them.
18
Spot on, Goldy. And their threats to exercise their "2nd Amendment rights" against elected officials if they don't get their way is flat out treason.
19
@15, you hear that? The stupidest person in the world has lost respect for you. I hope your bitter tears don't spoil your favorite beverage.

All gun rights advocates are, in fact, dickless bullies. Not all gun owners, but all the advocates.
21
@19
if you don't mind, i'll cry the 'bitter tears' - that sort of thing feels good to me
22
@11: Yep.
23
@20 On this Veteran's Day, I'd like to salute my father, who spent part of WWII in the Pacific in the Seabees, building landing strips, and after the war, as a Merchant Marine, running Displaced Persons Transports across the Atlantic, evacuating refugees emigrating from Europe.

Today, he celebrated at his local VFW post, with hot dogs and beer.
24
Wise punk has the right of it. Any responsible gun owner should have been taught both those rules since they were young. Don't take out a weapon unless you are gonna use it. They are not toys or props. These guys are a whole buncha weak sauce.
25
dickless bullies, fucktards, morons, monsters, dickless cowards, rednecks, shitbirds, douchebags, dicks, lunatics, weak sauce.

I want to commend Slog for being so creative in this thread. Great name-calling! But I don't think that's the end of it. Before the night is over I think we can triple the amount of names. Can we do it????

I'll start it off. Those pro-gun guys in Texas are jerks!
26
Ironically, it takes reading about these gun rights groups to make me seriously consider getting trained to safely own and operate a firearm for family protection.
27
@Dnt trust me: So how far off was I last month, when I guessed that you are either
a) a former Stranger staffer that was fired/let go for shit-poor performance

b) a subject of a negative Stranger article, possibly tied to a political campaign, and you are a junior staffer that now has a silly "vendetta" against The Stranger.

I put "vendetta" in quotes because, well, you just suck. You post stupid shit and no-one really gives a crap, least of all anyone here that actually works for The Stranger.

Anyway, whatever your gig is, dude, it's pathetic. The fact that people reply to your idiot comments is not any great thing to be proud of, and you aren't getting anyone riled up with your schtick. We reply to your comments because we can't really believe that anyone's so goddamn stupid as you.
28
@27
Would changing my little square picture next to my comments help?
29
@ 28, keep your avatar please. Makes it easy to skip past your posts.
30
@18: Absolutely. It's ridiculous that people threaten to shoot officials who make decisions they disagree with and simultaneously claim to oppose tyranny.
31
@29
I like this avatar. It is conjunction with the one used by commenter Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh wgah'nagl fhtagn. His is a soccer field, a plot of dirt, uneven sides, used by the poverty kids in urban Brazil. Mine is a state of the art soccer field in Capitol Hill that cost 2 million dollars where rich privileged kids play.
32
Perhaps one should consider this photo from another perspective. It might be revealing your biases.
33
@32 Oh, so waving a flag makes a big difference in how your chauvinist militia is viewed. Not.

Domestic fascist and/or militant groups the world over claim their national flag. Doesn't make it theirs any more than it belongs to the people they're fighting against.

That's my flag, too, and don't you forget it. And my country and I deserve peace and civility. Not gangs of armed schmucks demonstrating in public in favor of being armed schmucks in public. Not gangs of armed schmucks demonstrating in public against people in favor of peace and civility. Be ashamed.
34
It is the First Amendment: freedom of expression. Progressive liberals and gun control supporters do not have monopoly on this principle. Plus to that there were some other pictures of the same gathering taken from a different angle. These guys did not look threatening at all. They held an American flag, declaring their patriotism. I guess it is all about prospective: โ€œthugs with gunsโ€ or Americans exercising their constitutional rights.
35
@32

The other angle helps provide perspective, and you have a point that the photo used for the post is definitely chosen for a reason.

However, the advisory cuts both ways: "Don't trust anything you see from pro- or anti-gun pages" would be more accurate. However, I personally find that it's the pro-gun folks that exhibit less civility and provide fewer (if any) facts whenever the topic is raised. Just look at the comments here on Slog from fairly.unbalanced or Cascadian Bacon. Frankly I'm amazed they haven't answered their Google alerts and commented already.

All that aside, having an "open carry protest" out in the parking lot when four unarmed women (Four. Unarmed. Women.) are holding a meeting inside a restaurant is a staggeringly dickish move.
36
I still do not understand how people consider carrying a gun a "peaceful" act. A gun is a weapon with only one use: to take life. You can argue that other tools/objects can take life as well, but they typically have higher, better uses or are far less convenient as weapons. Guns drastically shorten the path between the decision to threaten violence and the act thereof. Consider the context as well - a gun has only one context: implicit threat of violence at the whim of the user. Carrying a weapon indicates that you are willing to use it - whether it be for intimidation or its intended purpose.
37
@35, well, they got tired of waiting for said unarmed women to knock on their doors so they could shoot them in the back.
38
Ah, yes. So a bunch of dickless rednecks wave a flag and drag their kids along and suddenly it's OK to brandish loaded rifles in public places.

Seriously, can the South just secede already? Or can we get Cascadia going? I don't want to live in the same country as the narcissistic sociopaths.
39
This group of people is irrational, out of line, and possibly dangerous. I think we can all agree on that.

What I really appreciate, Goldy, is your *almost* acknowledgement that some of us who own guns and believe the Second Amendment is a valid and important part of the Constitution *might* be whole human beings. That's incredibly Caucasian of you.
40
@17: Those gun nuts would probably shit their pants in order to get out of serving in the armed forces. Pussies.

Has anybody mentioned yet that the mothers were having a luncheon, not a protest, at the restaurant? These jackholes showed up to "counter" a protest that never was. Reactionary turds.
41
@32,

You mean the bias in those images claiming that those women were holding a protest when in fact they were holding a *private membership meeting* at a restaurant?

Figures you dickless wonders can't tell the difference.
42
@23 My Dad was in the Merchant Marines also. My uncle flew B-25's in India and was lost over the Andaman Islands in 1944. I wish my dad was still alive, say HI to your Dad, tell him he's a hero in my book.
43
The losers that showed up to protest the Mothers thing should have been arrested and charged with "extreme republican stupidity". I sincerely doubt that there was a Democrat within 2 miles of that restaurant, unless they were inside trying to figure out what those retards were doing outside with semi-automatic weapons.
44
Guns don't kill, males do. That's true in 95% of homocides, somewhere around there.

Can we look at the extreme masculinist culture in which we live?

How else can a military Empire rule except through violence as mirrored in sports, music, video games, movies, and increasingly unhinged male violence disorders on display.

The more militarized our nation becomes, the more violent is the reality for women and children. It's not just "their" women and children we are targeting for v iolence, it is "our" women and children here at home.

Beyond labels - it's not lib to want to have background checks on all gun owners. And, I question is anyone on a modern psych med should own one. The new atypical neuraleptic anti-psychotics are often on the medico-psych plan of the young male serial shooters.

It'd be really sad if all the mothers decided they needed to arm up and go around toting open carry for their favorite causes. How fast would a swat team kill those uppity women, but, look what women have to put up with.

Please wait...
