@1 Technically, it was always going to be a Frontline documentary, but in partnership with ESPN. After the doc was completed, ESPN basically asked PBS to take their name off the project, because of the completely bogus reason that ESPN realized they had no editorial control.
Of course, everyone knows the real reason: ESPN is the NFL's bitch (Fox, CBS and NBC don't have nearly as much to lose), and the NFL knows it. The NFL forced ESPN to disassociate itself with the project. ESPN pulling out only brought way more attention to the doc.
Frontline ran League of Denial Sunday night after football, really interesting.
