So your conclusion is that a lot of people want jobs which require little skill, pay ridiculously well and provide insane benefit packages, and aren't subject to employee termination no matter how comically bad at your job you are?

High costs of living are what prevent small business from being viable.

High rents, too many taxes, too much density and infrastructure. These prevent a person from being able to live off a single job or project rather than hand to mouth.
