Agreed. The girlfriend could have shot the motherfucker instead of trying to stop him.

Reminds me of a song we (inexplicably) learned in elementary school music class:

Little Billy was having fun
Shot his father with a BB gun
His mother said, "Shame on you!
You should've shot him with a .22!"

Exactly! We need more people to be armed in this country, to counteract the bad guys who are EVERYWHERE.

But ...the problem is that guns are not enough. Suppose THE TERRORISTS break into your home through the front door - or the patio. The only rational solution is to legalize land mines & bazookas. Would-be evildoers would think twice if they knew a land mine awaited them under the welcome mat. Sure, a few delivery men & neighborhood children & pets might be sacrificed, but this is the price we pay for our FREEDOM!

And a bazooka in the bedroom could keep Al-Qaeda at bay, when they are sneaking in the window. It's time to stop pussyfooting around & stand up for AMERICA!!!

1, You're suggesting that the woman should have shot her bf, huh?

Wow. Once again, the gun nuts' only answer to gun violence is more gun violence.

I like that there's no mention of him now having TWO ex-girlfriends. I think someone accidentally shooting you (non-fatally) while trying to shoot someone else is a pretty good reason to dump someone.

Good ol' Texas.

Moral of the story: Don't date anyone who owns a gun.

All my ex's live in Texas.

That's why I hang my hat in Tennessee.

I think the point of @1 went over the head of @4

Hey Goldy, 45 shootings, 11 dead in Chicago in just one weekend. Maybe they should ban guns in Chi-town?
10
as long as i don't know them it doesn't matter and illustrates no larger point regarding america and its culture.

@9 Analysis of his recent postings shows most of them are either about people in rural areas of blue states (Youngstown, Ohio) or in general areas of red states (Texas). More local people were at risk, and pestered for hours, when Joel Reuter, of unsound mind, whooped it up and waved his gun around in a high-density area blocks away from The Stranger office. But the Capitolhillseattle blog saw more newsworthiness in this than did SLOG's "guns don't make us safer" drummer. Wouldn't surprise me if Capitol Hill locals directed their attention more toward the CHS blog as a result.

It could be any combination of drunkenness, adrenalin, curiosity, testosterone, mental illness, fear or ignorance responsible for those "faraway" mishaps. Mental illness shootings close to home? They only count if they happen at places where The Stranger editorial staff drink, and "guns don't make us safer" guy isn't the one reporting on them.

@9: Maybe Indiana should require background checks for the yahoos who come across the border, buy guns in bulk at this one gun show, and come back to Chicago to sell them.

Please wait...

and remember to be decent to everyone
all of the time.
