Fort Hoot? Really?
2
Bah! Fixed. Haven't had coffee yet.
3
89 degrees? You've got to be kidding me. I think our record for July 1 is 104. That's no heat wave.

Do some Egyptian men not realize how raping a female journalist injures their cause - or is it a case where some Egyptian men hear about a protest and go looking for women to rape?

Also, watching reports on TV, I'm seeing more and more Egyptian women taking up the hijab than I used to see (at least women aren't afraid to get involved unlike in some other Islamic countries where you never see women in public demonstrations). Are the rapers attacking women who aren't wearing the headdress? Is that what this is about?

Anyway...rapists...creeps...backward, half-witted creeps.

You might want to edit Nelson Mandela's name, as well, after your coffee.

In news from up north, the Lake Stevens gun nut that shot and killed a Seattle girl had his first day in court yesterday.

He admitted he was just driving around shooting randomly, after drinking at a local bar.

Your well-armed militia at work.

I think yesterday or a couple days ago, Death Valley also set or tied the record for the hottest recorded temperature in history for the entire planet. Somewhere around 135 degrees F.

That's a spicy meatball!

It was 92 at my house when i got home at 6:30, so that high temp is some bullshit. and it was 84 inside my house.

lame -- the Egypt news is that the fucking army is staging a coup planning to wipe out the democratically elected government.

btw this proves that there is not in fact unity in all these protests across the globe as was claimed the other day -- the Egyptian protests have a rather specific demand now, and it's not reform global capitalism, or please give us socialism, it's that the leader has to go. obviously, this is not the demand in brazil. it's not the demand of occupy in the usa. but hey the romance of protest is a better story, so let's put these silly facts aside.

When you're sweating like a pig today, take comfort in the fact that the heat wave of 1980 was far worse. Over 1700 people died across the US. In Oklahoma, where I was living at the time, we had 71 consecutive days of 90+ degrees, many over 100º. Oklahoma City topped 110º. Now, that's a heat wave.
11
@3 - Why am I not surprised that you are surrounded by more hot air than the fair citizens of Seattle...
12
I love hot weather! Summer is glorious!
13
@7 - The history of the entire planet? I'd like to see your data.
14
@11, yeah, but it still beats the he'll out of being surrounded by shitheads.

Former Seattle-PI editor and KIRO TV commentator Lou Guzzo died at the age of 94. The Dehumanizers finally got their wish.

It's CNN's fault that the court displays personal info during a live courtroom broadcast? Sounds more like the court's fault to me.
17
@13,
I guess they didn't succeed in breaking the record the other day. They still hold the record for the hottest recorded temp on the planet though (second to last sentence in the article):

http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me…
19
@16,

They need someone paying attention to the live feed to cut that information out as it happens. News networks also revealed the Steubenville rape victim's name in exactly the same way. But if someone said a swear in the courtroom, you can be sure *that* would be bleeped out before any viewer heard it.
20
@4,

I would guess some Egyptian men realize it, but they're not the ones doing the raping.

Considering how many populist uprisings have ultimately resulted in mass murder and greater oppression, I think you give protesters too much credit. Just because they're pissed off over ____ issue doesn't mean they give the slightest fuck about improving humanity.
22
Apparently we have some commenters in favor of rape too, what the fuck.
23
@17, they did and they didn't.

They recorded a temperature higher than any ever recorded on earth, but because the place isn't an official weather station it doesn't count. The nearest weather station, the one that recorded 134 degrees a hundred years ago, didn't get that high on Sunday.

The record temp belonged to a place in Tunisia for many decades, but that record was taken away not long ago, on examination of evidence that it was bogus. So Death Valley got the record back.

Sunday's official 129 in Death Valley was the highest-ever temperature in June for anywhere in the US, though.

The heat wave in the Southwest is in record territory -- Phoenix was 119 on Saturday, a record for the date and the fourth-highest ever recorded; Friday was 118, Sunday was 115. Vegas set an all-time record. It was so hot in Salt Lake City that a freeway buckled.

@6: Militias are motivated by political passion against a targeted adversary. Doesn't fit the definition of an inebriated thug on a random shooting spree at kids and homes.
25
Somewhere in Nigeria, an internet scammer just applied for an Amex card in George Zimmerman's name. But hey, I don't like his chances of getting it.
26
@24: and yet, he is a member of the well-regulated militia - he is a male between 18 & 45. read it and weep:

(a) The militia of the United States consists of all able-bodied males at least 17 years of age and, except as provided in section 313 of title 32, under 45 years of age who are, or who have made a declaration of intention to become, citizens of the United States and of female citizens of the United States who are members of the National Guard.
(b) The classes of the militia are—
(1) the organized militia, which consists of the National Guard and the Naval Militia; and
(2) the unorganized militia, which consists of the members of the militia who are not members of the National Guard or the Naval Militia.
27
@24 is "thug" code for "black"?
28
@27: No - I never thought of that correlation until you brought it up.
29
@28 I name you liar!
30
@29: What, pray tell, have I lied about? I never lie. Mistaken sometimes, but lying? Never.

Please wait...
