It's a concession (see Reuven Carlyle and the "we have to get this started" kind of comment), not a compromise. I hate to tell them but $700M isn't a down payment on public education. I'm disgusted but, at this point, none of them are going to listen to anyone.

@2 Maybe the hinterlands ought to pay for their own schools out of their own tax revenues, then, rather than out of taxes paid by King/Pierce/Snohomish Counties.
