Isn't he staring in a remake, yes remake, of the Left Behind series of movies?
2
I would be more impressed with this schtick if you were hosting the event from an actual cage onstage.

To that end, I have a dog crate you can borrow if you want.
3
Wow...Kudos to you for putting this together...I can't imagine how difficult it must have been like to choose the films (Personal opinion: If you'd subbed out Con Air, The Wicker Man and Vampire's Kiss with Face/Off, Valley Girl and Peggy Sue Got Married it would've been practically perfect).
4
@3, no way, Con Air had to be there. "Put the bunny back in the box."
5
You misspelled "Nicktacular".
6
I didn't see an ad for this, but I can't tell you what movie I was watching at SIFF.
7
Finally a film festival I can get behind.
8
@5: I love you. I'm totally stealing that.

@3: Face/Off has too much Travolta. I love Cage's performance in Face/Off, but I think Con Air is his best, purest showcase action role.

As to Valley Girl/Peggy Sue: I love both those movies, but I wanted movies where Cage had the most screen time. Maybe if enough people are into this one, someday we'll do a Tag-Team Cage Match where we show off his best supporting roles.

And finally, I will cut anyone who says Vampire's Kiss doesn't belong in this festival. I love that movie so, so much.

What about "The Rock"??!!???????
10
@8 - Well, shit, maybe now I have to come to this thing.
11
Paul, you should review local film critic Vern's take on Cage and Mega Actingas part of your research.
12
I have a soft spot for "Wild at Heart."
13
I think my link to Vern's site is wonky. It's

14
Over these six films how many times does Nic Cage lose his shit?
15
When did Frances McDormand take over for Holly Hunter in playing Ed McDunnough in "Raising Arizona?" (cf http://www.siff.net/cinema/nicolas-cage-…) -- someone's been messing with your program notes over at SIFF, birthday boy.
16
@11: I loved Vern's book on Seagal. That's a great idea. Thanks.

@12: Wild at Heart is a favorite of mine, too. That's definitely one that easily could've made the cut.

@14: Two million.

@15. Nope, that's my mistake. I don't know how that happened. (Well, McDormand has her own Coen connection, but that's still no excuse.)

17
I was very-well entertained by Vampire's Kiss.
18
I so, so completely support a Nic Cage film festival. And I can accept that you wanted pure Cage showcase films and therefore (sob) no Face/Off. (Although I feel like it should get some kind of pass out of sheer awesomeness.) But, unfortunately, I'm just not a fan of over half these movies and the Wicker Man just has so many bees. No chance of subbing in Matchstick Men for anything?

This is awesome! Just wanted to let you know we shared your film festival on our social channels (FB, Twitter and G+). Best of luck!

I don't live there anymore but so would love to do this. Excellent lineup! Something about Honeymoon in Vegas I always enjoyed - Ka'p'a'a! , the Flying Elvis's, Caan, crazy poker rage, even a baby Bruno Mars.

“I just came off Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance and that was sort of like a pop-art operatic performance, larger than life, what I would call a jazz acting thing. It was time to remind people that that is not all I can do and I actually can be quiet and cinéma vérité and be more into the minutiae of the performance.”

Paul, no idea if you receive new comments as an alert / email / whatever, but a friend sent me this quote today and I felt I must share it with you.
