There was some kind of "kick homophobia out of sports" thing going on at the Sounders last night -- the Gorilla FC section was throwing rainbow streamers, and holding up two-sticks of...Dan Savage? And other assorted gay icons. Very interesting. http://t.co/I7KiP6b1yo
Klamath County drug raids: 38 arrested in operation tied to Mexican cartels
Law enforcement officials said it was the largest one-day roundup of drug-dealing suspects in recent Oregon history.
The investigation, "Operation Trojan Horse," was begun after the bodies of two suspected drug traffickers from California were found shot and buried last October on a ranch outside Bonanza, a tiny community 25 miles east of Klamath Falls.
The right-wing newspaper La RazĂłn has reported that Mr SĂĄnchez Gordilloâs government is in debt to the tune of âŹ2.83m (ÂŁ2.4m), and also quotes sources close to the town as saying there are months of back payments owed to workers in the co-operatives. Other villagers claim, according to La RazĂłn, that âif you donât go to protestâ â as happened recently at another land-grab in the military terrain of Las Turquillas â âthen you donât get a jobâ. There have been repeated assertions that Mr SĂĄnchez Gordillo does not share his power and has not held a full village council meeting for 13 months.
No thanks.
Trading in an oppressive set of industrial age titans for a "people's government" run a by a backwards facing centralized bureaucracy isn't my idea of progress.
Yeah, I used to think that I wanted to work in international aid, did so, and now think the best thing those of us in the global north can do is leave the rest of the world the hell alone. Thank you, Ansel, for both those links to remind us that poor people are not objects.

I know this is weird, but does Janelle Monae, in that video, remind anyone else of Kate Bush? Something about the expressions and jerky but poised movements. Think "Babooshka"...
very stylish

Smart move for them, considering they caused and profited from the bubble in the first place.
