Cue the racism from the Unregistered in 3, 2, 1...

The real hero couldn't speak english.. so the media didn't pay attention to him. http://www.slate.com/blogs/the_slatest/2…
3
Um, but Clarence Ramsey was still this week.
4
Wow.
5
Nobody's only one thing. Can't we like good things people do while still not liking the bad things they do?
6
His name is Charles Ramsey.

No good deed goes unpunished. Most of us are truly imperfect, flawed individuals who fuck up a lot, but most of us aren't evil like the creep who abducted and tortured these girls. We just have to hope there is enough decency in each of us that when someone is screaming for help, you go immediately and don't stop to think about whether you want all your past transgressions aired nationally.
8
It's cute how the mostly white middle class staff of the stranger adopts urban black people as pets.
9
It's missing the heroism factor. Hatcheting a Jesus-man, chasing off your sister's attacker, saving a young woman from captivity—THEN your eccentricities get to be meme'd. This is just a delightful case of telling it like it is, which you can find anywhere.

What @7 said.
11
I can't wait for next week's episode of Working Class People Say the Craziest Things!
12
It's a shame she doesn't live in a democracy.
13
#8, homeless people too. they love to look out on cal anderson park from their perch and romanticize them.
14
@ 13, why is your profile's activity hidden?
15
something that has been bugging me for a while but couldnt quite put into words:

I love Detroit and my home state, but their politics are f*cked.
17
@8 Middle class, LOL!
18
Ha ha ha ha. Crazy black people. Is she a wife beater like Ramsey?
19
I'm pretty sure Dan and Tim pay the staff in stale cake and old bongwater.
20
@15

Thanks for that link about the black clown figure.

What, no redemption for black men?

Ramsey served his time, paid his debt. While that doesn't necessarily mean he's great husband/mate material today, he did show he's a man who can do the right thing now and again. The fact that he's not a saint doesn't take away from what he did in this instance, or the great television he made with his interviews.

"It's cute how the mostly white middle class staff of the stranger adopts urban black people as pets"

I believe they started with Mudede...
23
I'm pretty sure Melinda Brown Duncan is part of the problem, not the solution.
24
"What, no redemption for black men?"

After the first, second or third domestic violence charge?
25
Despite his past transgressions Ramsey was a hero that saved those girls.

Looks like The Srranger cannot stand a black man getting the credit that feel their beloved government deserves.

@8 FTW

The closest they'll ever get to interacting w/actual black people is thru YouTube clips. It makes them feel cool & progressive to send around the links. Coz if you send around a clip like this, with a resounding "You go, girl!" it automatically makes you not racist.
27
@19: They're more sophisticated than that. Cheap "oaky" Chardonnay and separating Brie.

Please wait...
