A memorial bike ride for the English language will be held tomorrow at noon.

A horrible story. His son found on on Reddit, which is even more horrifying somehow.

Does anybody have any information? Like what brand bike or if he was wearing a backpack or anything? My dad rode to work this morning and nobody has seen him yet :( please if anyone knows anything let me know. There is nothing from the medical examiner or spd office

I had a friend who was killed under similar circumstances. He's one of the eleven. He was also a great rider and father to two great kids. The reality of cycling is that you can't control for bad drivers, no matter how hard you try. I've given up cycling for that very reason.

So will the memorial ride conclude with everyone running a red light and plowing into a semitruck?

This painfully reminds me of Bonnie Tinker, a truly amazing lesbian who founded Love Makes A Family and was a tireless advocate of social justice and LGBT rights. She attended our wedding in 2004, we attended hers shortly afterwards.

We also attended her funeral after she was killed by a truck while riding her bike. Such a powerful human being, and what a loss for the human race.

My heart breaks for his family. I will never forget the relief I felt when a protected bike lane went in along my husband's bike route to his work. Vancouver has several now, and a few more to come, hopefully. Lobby HARD for them! It really makes a difference, and pretty much none of the negatives that people worried about before they went in have come to pass. All that has happened is that ridership is up, and accidents are down.

This reminds me of Brian Fairbrother, the idiot barista who died when he rode his bike down a flight of stairs that he failed to see because he was texting while riding. If he had been driving a car, the same people who got all weepy because it was a bike death would've nominated him for a Darwin Award.

If you can do that, you will wind up dead in the middle of the road. If that's too harsh for your poor, wounded little soul, tough shit. This is the big city, little child. At least my mother wasn't stupid enough to crawl onto a bicycle, run a red light, and hit a semitruck. And she wasn't surrounded by hundreds of fuckwits who'd hold a weepy memorial service honoring her fuckwittery. Nor was there a Mayor Fuckwit who'd celebrate her fuckwittery, or an "alternative" Fuckwit Stranger who'd be every fuckwit's notice board to publicity for every stupid thing a fuckwit ever did.

Seriously, just how is it that the fuckwit Lance David couldn't stop his bicycle before running into the truck? How the fuck fast was the fuckwit Lance David riding, anyway? Did the fuckwit Lance David have brakes on his bike, or was it the fuckwit bicyclist's favorite expressing of fuckwittery, a fuckwit fixie without brakes? And why would anyone blame anybody but the fuckwiy bicyclist for what happened?

All of this reminds me of the death of a different fuckwit, Brian Fairbrother. That particular Seattle fuckwit bicyclist died when he decided he could bike and text at the same time, and thereby didn't happen to notice a flight of stairs in front of him. The Seattle bicyclist fuckwits blamed everyone and everything else for that fuckwit's death too.
