Only on the SLOG can we go from an amateur bombing to a likely bullshit ricin scare and blame it on 'the gun nuts.'
Given the logic around here, we really should be banning and registering pressure cookers... you know, because no one really 'needs' a pressure cooker. If we only banned them, then this senseless bombing wouldn't have happened...
Ricin is a pure terrorist play. It has no value as a "weapon of mass destruction", since it's pretty much impossible to affect more than one or two people in the luckiest scenario. But it can affect 300 million people when it gets splashed across the news.
@7, why haven't you eaten shit and died yet? The world is waiting.
@13 - I was doing on your behalf, 5280. In @8, Fnarf, as usual, contributes interesting insights into the conversation, but then in his second paragraph fires a torpedo of sheer meanness at you.
I'm beginning to wonder if the North Koreans could be behind this. Their nukes are a joke, their army can't move from their bunkers, and they're an economic basket case, but they could certainly manage a few dozen pressure cooker bombs and envelopes of ricin. Just as long as they kept suspicion focused on Islamist militants or domestic extremists, they could play off our fears for weeks if not months, and make the US authorities look bad for their inability to catch the perpetrators.
Just speculation, of course. But it fits the available facts at least as well as the usual suspects.
Indeed it does, Paul.
Their arguments must not be working anymore, and like Boston and my cousin there, we refuse to live in Fear.
Probably some nutso lefty.

Sheesh.

Found one, it posted 4 & 9.
