I've seen a Bangladeshi colleague posting about this on facebook for weeks now. When I first noticed I had to look hard to find news articles about what was going on. This is the first I've heard about it not on facebook from any of my semi-regular blog/news gathering sources.

I just felt like commenting because nobody else had.

If they aren't willing to ally with any standing politicians at all, that doesn't bode well for them. Even if politics is a tallest midget contest, consistently picking the taller midget will induce the midgets to grow. Whereas if you declare yourself the enemy of the whole establishment, plenty of people who normally don't cooperate with each other will team up against you. If you want to break the existing establishment you have to divide it. This is a big part of where OWS went wrong, although the two cases aren't entirely comparable since Bangladesh is very poor and its government makes ours look like an icon of goodness in comparison.
