Has anyone been able to reach Lisa Dank for comment?

Awesome. Now we have angry incoherent superheros. Those are the best kind.
3
"Big weekend for grown men who like to play dress-up and issue confusing statements!"

Great Twitter summary, Paul.
4
Now, now folks - let's reserve judgment until we've seen the equally incoherent video footage.
5
One day, Phoenix Jones is going to meet someone who is going to give him a case of lead poisoning to the head. And some people may find that event....inevitable.
6
Why does he need to edit the video? Does it not match his narrative as-is? Just put up the raw footage, you freak.
7
The RLSH in-fight amongst themselves so much than on most days there's nothing for a supervillain to do but be pithy and post pictures of cats.

They really are vicious with each other.
8
Phoenix Jones and his "team" need to go away, or be taken away by force.
9
You know what Batman would do if he came upon a situation where it looked like someone had been pepper sprayed? He'd find out for sure, rather than assume anything.
10
LEAVE PHOENIX ALONE
11
This town needs better Real Bad Super Heroes than PJ.

I nominate "The MudChuck" - a costumed crusader who tirelessly scans the metropolitan skyline for crimes against Marxist sensibility in architecture ... then leaps into action and does his rock'em-sock'em best to hurt the offenders' tender feeeelings.

@9

Actually, what Batman would do if he came upon such a situation is continue to be imaginary.

I think Phoenix Jones is more in the right in this case. The second thing you do if you think someone is having an overdose is to call for an ambulance (the first thing you do is verify the area is safe). And nobody who is trained in first aid (even CPR), is ever qualified to take a pulse. Only EMTs or higher qualifications are allowed to do that now.

The New York Initiative, and the rest of the Initiative Collective, will continue to stand up and voice our concerns when Benjamin Fodor, AKA Phoenix Jones does something irresponsible and ignorant.

If you want to call us trolls that is fine. We bring the facts, we bring them hard, and you have not once, NOT EVER been able to argue them down.

You say that we should stop trolling your page? Guess what... takes 5 seconds to look, post something, and move on to the stuff that we do... which is what you do, only correct, and the multiply that by about ten.

And we're not slapping band-aids on a societal problem. We are looking for ways to bring actual change. BIG change. And we have found those ways.

It's never going to stop until you start doing it right. And that's not politics, that is directly relevant to that fact that you have put many people in danger due to your lack of either training or understanding/comprehension of said training.

You are on notice.

We are not trolling some celebrity's page... We are voicing concerns over a man who has decided to take others lives into his own hands, and is doing it poorly and refuses to do what is necessary to be better. All he does is continue to up his force levels and his cache of weapons, instead of raising his knowledge, education and conflict resolution.

Our POV may not be popular, but it is right.

To Fodor: It's never going to stop until you start doing it right. And that's not politics, that is directly relevant to that fact that you have put many people in danger due to your lack of either training or understanding/comprehension of said training.

I'm Batman.

@15: Anyone who spends time trying to show the factiness of their facts or explicitly declaring that their statements are facts tends to be a troll--like you.

An obvious solution to this problem would be to offer Mr. Jones and his team EMT training. If they are willing to do the work of a First responder without any remuneration, the city could benefit from enrolling these people in the CERT program or footing the bill for an EMT-Basic course at a local community college.

Listen, I know these folks have odd taste in street clothes and perhaps their adulation of comic books is a tad juvenile, but so what? I like living in a freak show. I live in the Greater Seattle Area because there is a 75% chance that anyone I happen to be near is even weirder than I am. Phoenix Jones wants to romp the streets dressed in tights calling himself a superhero? Fine by me. And while they're at it, lets train them up so they can be useful, too.

Besides, if this superhero thing leads to more men working out and developing easy-to-look-at bodies, I'm all for it. Keep Seattle beautiful by encouraging geeks to go to the gym.

Nice double post, dickhead.

Help us bomb those jungle towns
Spreading pain and death around

Help us smash the Vietcong

Help us show them that they're wrong

Make them just like you and me

Oooh, I love that Amazing Adventures of the Liverpool Scene LP! Thanks, gttrgst!
23
@Tacoma Traveler ... I'm pretty sure you would make it through the Mayoral Primary on that platform... are you a resident of Seattle?
24
#19, You're a fucking moron.
25
23,

I take it you have not noticed my moniker.
26
#25, Tacoma isn't the "Greater Seattle Area", dipshit. So you don't even live here and yet you have some suggestions on how my city should spends its money on training "superheroes"? Shut the fuck up.

@19

I think that EMT training would do many of these costumed people a world of good, or even basic First Aid.

If the rest of his crew is afraid of being named as part of certification, I'm sure that a doctor or trauma nurse or SOMEONE with training would be more than happy to teach them basic first aid and how to recognize signs of things like drug overdose.

... But they don't. Because if it can't be solved by punching someone or unloading tear gas into their face, it's not glamorous enough.

27,

http://gawker.com/5950981/

trolling is par for the course on the internet. Human nature is profoundly fucked up. Offline, we check our behavior for fear of consequences ranging from job loss to alienation/ostracism or of provoking violence. Online, when people believe they are anonymous (you aren't really, but it sure feels that way), people will express their individual pathos in ways they never would in the real world.

Most of the people posting here have that mentality. You can't take them seriously, because they are fundamentally cowards. If we had this discussion at City Hall, I'm sure people's responses would be more measured and thoughtful.

Besides, half of them are teenage children posting their hormonal angst onto the web anyway. Of course they're impressed with punching people out-haven't you noticed that action flicks primarily target the adolescent male audience? Its a rare and sad 45 year old that goes to the theater to watch 300 or movies like it.

The good news is that these kids posting here can't vote. They have no voice in our government. We do. And we can get meaningful things done.

If you liked my idea, share it with a politician who can implement it. After enough phone calls , emails, and personal contacts, it will get done. And together, we can move Seattle forward.

It's my understanding that CERT training is meant to assist the First Responders in an emergency situation (natural disaster/terrorist attack/etc). So far the ONLY "real life superhero" who is certified in First Responder/EMT is Knightowl of the Portland-Vancouver area, and who also spent a ton of money getting certified.
I think that Phoenix Jones, a functional illiterate, should concentrate on controlling his dyslexia before he tries out for more certifications (besides the one that he brags about: Bouncer certification).
If Midnight Jack or whoever called 911 to help out the situation, good on them. Let's see the UNEDITED FOOTAGE.
Also good to know that others who wear the label of RLSH or Initiative don't do anything "of consequence." Maybe we should just stand on a street corner and wait for a fight to break out like the RCSM.
Purple Reign (only female member of the RCSM) who DOESN'T PATROL (not often, if at all) was recently awarded by the UW Women's something or other.. basically was recognized for advocacy of DV awareness. Not patrolling. Not standing on a street corner and waiting for the bars to close.
So basically, the only member of Phoenix Jones' "crew" is a woman who doesn't patrol... and I'm guessing 'doesn't do anything of consequence."

@26 - You first.
31
WHERE IS REX VELVET!?
32
@12: That made me laugh pretty hard.
33
Posting indecipherable screeds online is apparently a membership requirement of this particular vigilante force, if JackZero is any guide. Thankfully, doing so in all caps seems limited to Phoenix Jones's personal style.
34
@18: No, most of the time he and his ilk are the ones who have caused said event.
35
@8 There are so many things that are infinitely more menacing in this city than Phoenix Jones, Mr. Jameson.

I'll admit, I'd be less concerned about his presence and decisions if I knew that he had formal training in something other than mixed martial arts. I still get the feeling that their weird little hearts are in the right place.
36
I don’t fully understand this article or JackZero. It seems that both are passing judgement without even knowing any of the facts; though, claim to know. Here’s the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpeUxVhpn… . Sean’s version of the story doesn’t add up, whilst Phoenix’s does. Also, it seems odd that half of the group leaves towards the beginning of the video, Sean proclaimed that he thought Phoenix maced his friend even though he stated the contrary via his Tweet, and the fact that he was doing absolutely nothing medically relevant to aide his “friend.”
