Swap out "slaves" for "employees", and you've got a southern right-to-work state. (In a northern right-to-work state, they'd just leave out the reference to Christ)

#3 - You probably know this, but this is of course from the New Testament and hence post-Moses.

Unquestioning obedience to authority is certainly a core value of Christianity. This is a religion whose prevailing metaphor tells us that we are sheep being herded by a benevolent shepherd.
