This is great news. Bigotry flourishes when it's not discussed, brought to light.
2
On an unrelated note, anyone know why Foxnew.com dosent take comments anymore?

The problem I have with Democrats is that they don't have a ridiculously liberal side except in the mind of some members of the extremely far right.

And before you rush to judgement, answer me this. When was the last time a Democrat talked about taking over the means of production or anything that is directly socialist(as opposed to "if you squint and twist it around it may be socialist but not really")?

We need a large, organized radical left to balance the radical right.

They're already turbo-fugly and have been for decades.

Robert Byrd gets a free pass on this one I suppose.

@3: Adding a lunatic fringe on the left doesn't balance the lunatic fringe on the right. It just means we'd have more total lunatics. The left can't help it if they are, in aggregate, entirely sane. Those of us in the middle can only hope the right keeps shedding / denouncing its extremists until it can say the same.

@6 I would have to disagree with that. If we had a really strong left, an actual communist or at least democratic socialist we wouldn't have the drift right that we have had for the past twenty years or so.

The debates wouldn't be about super small modifications in gun laws or over a health care bill that would have made Nixon squeal with joy.

An extreme left might be able to push the debate towards single payer, universal handgun bans, living wages, and penalties on corporations as a function of their total worth as opposed to a set amount of money(you launder drug money, kiss 1/2 of your profits for all of those years goodbye).

Which then that, in turn, would push the debate more to the left so that the reforms we are gasping for now(background checks, Obamacare, etc.) would be really easy lifts as opposed to borderline inconceivable.

That's why, even as a moderate, you need an extreme left and an extreme right so that the whole damned debate field isn't drug into fascist corporatist Jesus land.

Who the fuck is "James B. Taylor?" Is he a prominent conservative leader because Mother Jones, the uber-lib virtual fishwrap says so? Oh, well then it MUST be true. [rolleyes]

I have never heard of this tool-bag or his little organization, so if it actually exists and Mr. Constant isn't lying, it is a fringe group that does not represent the mainstream.

Seriously folks, how can you people read this shit and actually think that it is not bald faced Communist propaganda?

Again, SEN Robert Byrd (DEMOCRAT) was a member of the KKK. "This shit never falls out of the closet of liberals," does it Mr. Constant?

Thanks for the intellectual honesty there Mr. Constant...

Get really ugly for who?

Isn't this strictly a Republican problem?

Democrats don't have this problem and demographic changes in the US favor Democrats.

I'm not worried about racists being in control of the Republican party since it's unlikely they'll get the White House for a while. They'll either have to change or keep losing Presidential elections. That's their problem.

@7 If you want the left to succeed, you should not link economic policies which should, ideally, divide people almost entirely along class lines (single payer, corporate regulation) with policies that have little class correlation or a correlation of support opposite to the economic policies, like handgun bans.

But, hey, that worked out SO WELL for Democrats in the '70s! What could possibly go wrong?

Please wait...
