@1, "I realize YOU'RE just trolling, but seriously"
Machine guns are generally categorized as submachine guns, machine guns, or autocannons. Submachine guns are hand-held small portable automatic weapons for personal defense or short-range combat firing pistol-caliber rounds.
Dude. It's just a gun store. We have several of them in this area. You could go visit one right now and exercise your constitutional right to own a rifle.
I vote #5 as the leading candidate for Seattle's next psycho shooter.
Anyway, Americans are lazy, stupid, fearful and violent. Even at the speed legislators are working on laws that should have happened years ago, that lazy, stupid, fearful violence will murder the few morals that show up with each mass murder.
I'm afraid that, like most Seattle "progressives," Chuckie has no idea what the difference is between a semi-automatic and an automatic weapon, or that, say, the old six-shooters of the Wild West were semi-automatics.
Americans have strong opinions on things they don't understand, news at 11.
Banning semi-automatic weapons? We've had semi-automatic weapons since 1885. They're not the problem here.
"Clips"? Do these people even do basic research into vocabulary before writing articles?
Or my favorite, the "gun show loophole". Guess what: Sellers at gun shows are FFLs. They are required to do (and do) background checks.
Or, my favorite, "assault weapons". Assault weapons are banned/highly regulated. They have been since 1934. Those scary things you see on the wall?" Those are rifles that, short of cosmetics, function no differently from a semi-automatic "hunting rifle". The primary difference is the black vs brown color.
What's just kind of sad is how the "progressives," in their resolute refusal to actually learn anything about guns have overlooked a powerful and important argument against assault style weapons and high capacity magazines. Oh well. Fuck 'em.
#13, you and I know how easy it is to skirt the automatic weapons ban. But I promise not to tell anyone at the Slog the details, because, let's face it, facts aren't exactly the "progressive" bailiwick.
Also, #13, it's not exactly talking out of school to point out that plenty of gun shows allow sales by unlicensed, private sellers, and that such unregulated sales make up 25% to 50% of the volume at a typical show. Washington State's shows tend to be more tightly controlled, but that's not true in many other places.
Now before you think I'm some slobbering "progressive," I'm not. I have little but disdain for the idiots of the Slog, and the equivalents. But don't sit there and pretend that the only people who sell at gun shows are FFLs, because it's not true and we both know it.
As usual Charles comes out against guns, when they are not in the hands of Communist guerrillas murdering whites. The kind of murder his dear old father Ebenezer use to support. You remember the Vumba Massacre Chuck? 12 people including children beaten, raped murdered with bayonets all in the name of Marxism.
Whatever. Pissing contest over who said "clip" or "magazine". Geeks.
The poll says there is still overwhelming support for the roster of common sense steps Obama outlined. The NRA is losing, badly. The NRA is the criminal's best friend, and the enemy of democracy. Gun nuts need to clean up their act, quick.
My favorite part of the whole article is ""Those changes are likely due to the passage of time, as the initial shock of the Newtown tragedy has begun to wear off, and may indicate why the White House has put the gun issue on a fast track," says CNN Polling Director Keating Holland."
Because using a tragedy to rush through legislation quick before people have the time to sit back, think about it a bit, and realize that it's an overreaction is a great strategy. After all, it got us the PATRIOT act, so why not try it again?
Yeah, you tell yourself that. You live in your bubble. Just like Romeny's deluded camp.
I really don't get why right wingers think they can build campaigns on faulty data. The essence of strategy is non-partisan. No matter how you view human nature, anyone who is serious about winning wants facts, not cheerleading.
I guess the real wackos want to lose, so they can crawl into their bunker and curl up with their rifle and dream of a glorious last stand. Maybe get raptured. Creeps.

also - what machine guns?

I'll say the same thing to you that I'd say to them:
Calm down Charles. They're not out to get you.

That's what "semi automatic" means, moron.
