@2: yeah, that was a really unfortunate lead-off. Some of the further essays are quite good, but I don't blame anyone for stopping right there.

I tried printing this to a PDF* to see how many pages it would make, and was surprised to see "182" in the print preview.

Several of the essays were interesting, like the one discussing the future of our solar system. And actually, I found the Chinese eugenics article worth reading, even though it was lacking in some critical information about genetics and the heritability of behavior. Oh, and the ethics of it all.

*In case "the Man" is listening: I didn't actually print it or save it.
