Note to Wall Street: You reap what you sow.

Now, now, can all the third party extremist babies please shut up?

No? Yeah, didn't think so. Wail away about how the Republicrats are no different than the Democans. Wail on, wail on. Privileged upper middle class college-educated white motherfuckers...

So she will replace either Herb Kohl (D-WI) or Daniel Akaka (D-HI), both of whom retired. There are no new vacancies on the Republican side. Manchin has two years seniority on her, so she'll be at the bottom of the table. I wonder if she'll even be allowed to speak!

I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. Sitting on the committee isn't the same thing as submitting legislation. It'll be awhile before she gets to do anything interesting. for now, she'll just be sitting there. Protip: use sanitizer after shaking hands with Vitter the Shitter.

But ... Rachel Maddow says that they're running out of white women on the R side ..
5
STFU, Will.

Other important committee slots opening: Budget (Patty Murray is the new chair, yay), two in Finance, one in Judiciary. There might be more; I just looked at the top three or so. Conrad in Budget is the only important chair who is gone, I think. Of course, any chair can perform the primary Senate function -- killing a bill stone dead.
6
@5 still only D's. There is a dearth of female R's.

Banks are responsibile entities that can manage risk, but they are also tender giants who need protection from Class A meanies like Elizabeth Warren. Bullshit mountain just keeps on erupting.

This is exactly why she was so needed, and her victory is so meaningful. One of the smartest women in the country who can bring some respect back to the Senate Banking Committee.
8
That's an insult to dildos.
9
@6, there are currently five Republican women senators, four in the new Congress; fifteen in history. The Democratic record is better but hardly impressive -- 12 currently, soon to be 16; 29 total.

Now STFU.
10
It's about time that we had a Cherokee on the Banking Committee.
11
Karma. It's a bitch and she gets even.
12
@8 Seriously. I had a completely different image in mind (How the heck do you strap a dildo onto a committee, anyway?), and was very disappointed.
13
Fnarf, everyone knows there's not enough women in the House and Seattle. You can stfu, thanks.

@2 We'll shut up when voting for these people results in actual leftist societal changes. Unless you consider the highest level of income inequality since the Great Depression to be leftist. http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/…

(I really, really like Elizabether Warren, btw. Quit acting like people fed up with the Democratic Party are wingnuts, though. Reversing wealth inequality is the bare minimum we deserve for their support.)
15
Er, our support.
16
@13 - That's not the point.

@14 - you realize that half the country thinks that's a good thing, Cuz that means America is a success, right?

Nope apparently not.

Please wait...
