Wait, there's a void on the religious right?
2
<santorum-filling-the-void-joke>
3
Careful what you wish for, there, Paul.
4
@3 I would not be worried. Santorum's status as a right-wing religious kook is very well cemented in American politics and culture. If he couldn't beat out Mitt fucking Romney for the nod in 2012, there's no way he's even coming close in the future.

It is so cute that these people, defeated in primaries and even Senate seat retention elections, think all they need is their own delusion and the delusions of people with dollars to put them @ 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. What a hilarious electoral system you have, America.
6
The downside of Romney losing is that vast swaths of the GOP are now convinced that they simply didn't nominate someone who is conservative enough.
7
@1, Amen!
8
@6 A problem for the GOP party as a whole, perhaps. But if they want to nominate a fringe candidate who'll lose handily in 2016, that'll be a boon for the rest of us.
9
God called them to run! Again!
10
The problem, which the Republicans have clearly identified, is that they didn't nominate anyone crazy loony batshit enough to win. They can't possibly lose if Santorum, Bachmann, Herman Cain and the Donald REALLY speak their minds next time.
11
Oh, good, more come-from-behind jokes.
12
This time, Santorum and Bachmann need to fight it out to be the official representative of God for the GOP this time around. I'm thinking no armor and lions around the edges of a circular arena packed with benches of cheering onlookers.
13
Bring it on.
14
So we can look forward to another Rethug clown car express primary in 2016? Wheeeeeeee!!

Come on, Hilary!
15
In other words, the 2016 primary is already looking like a repeat of the glorious clown car that was the 2012 republican primary?

Awesome!!!
16
@15 Exactly. Romney was the most presentable of a whole slew of losers. And he was the worst candidate trotted out by any party since Harding. Team Rape hasn't learned. They're base is dying, and they'll have far less voters for their wingnut ideas than they did this time around. No amount of the CEC will change that.
17
@6, I'm not seeing the downside there. I want the GOP to nominate the craziest lunatic they can find. If I can't have Todd Akin, I'll go with Santorum. And, you know, even if he doesn't get it, the more bruising the primary fight, the happier I'll be. Obama got a huge boost from Newt Gingrich et al's spirited attacks on Romney.
18
Santorum's always running somewhere...
19
They're doing it wrong!
20
Post Sarah Palin, running for president in the GOP is now just one long Reality-TV show. The "candidates" milk it for pundit spots, book deals, and speaking engagements. Almost none of them are remotely electable or qualified.
21
Hasn't enough of that shit been spread?
22
I want to see Michele Bachmann on top and Rick Santorum on bottom. Of the ticket, of course.

Please wait...
