In the same situation, I'd probably adopt a similar response: no crying, at least not in front of the woman who wounded me; that's for later, when I'm alone. Though I don't think I'd be able to keep myself from crying indefinitely. While still in her presence though, I don't think I'd be able to be silent and stoic, as you advocate.
