So all those good people smooshed together make Pac-Man?
2
question: So, if Mitt doesn't win the election, will it prove that prayer doesn't work???
3
The assault with maracas by Peruvian shamans killed Romney's momentum. The winningest campaign couldn't withstand that.

If you can't argue the numbers, then make an ad hominem attack on Nate Silver. I'm so fucking tired of the RNC/tea party alternate reality bullshit tour.

@2,
If it were that easy, religion would have disappeard millennia ago.
6
The stupidity of what they believe bothers me, but the morality bothers me even more. If you pray to get your way, and it works, that means that your appeal to a higher power has taken the free will of others and that sounds more like something Satan would do.

They want a theocracy, but they scream about how bad sharia law is. Hypocrites.

(It is bad, they're right about that. It's as bad as they are and not all that different.)

I put more faith in the Redskins Rule. The Redskins moved to Washington, D.C., in 1936 and, ever since and without a single exception, the following superstition has held true:

On the last home game before the election, if the Redskins lose, the party that won the popular vote the previous presidential election has gone on to lose the election. If, on the other hand, the Redskins win their last home game before the election, the party that won the popular vote of the previous presidential election has then won another four years.

This "rule" has withstood Gore and Bush, Bush and Kerry, Nixon and Kennedy, Clinton and Bush, Truman and Dewey, Reagan and Carter, um... Reagan and Mondale - every single one.

And this year - just yesterday - the Redskins hosted the Carolina Panthers. Slightly favored and with a better record... the Redskins weren't a match for the Panthers, the Panthers from Romney-friendly battleground North Carolina, losing 21-13. Lucky 13. The Redskins fell behind early and never recovered.

The latest early voting shows Republicans outpacing Dems in Colorado. Obama is looking favorable in Ohio, but Romney has been floating up as of late in Pennsylvania. He had a huge rally yesterday in Bucks County, outside of Philadelphia. No Dem has won a statewide election in Pennsylvania without winning all three counties outside liberal Philadelphia. Virginia could also substitute Ohio for Romney, though it looks like Obama is ahead by a hair. Florida is a lost cause. And don't forget New Jersey with it's wet, hungry, freezing voters sitting in the dark and now asked to participate in this improvised e-mail/fax election thrown together in the last minute. Fingers are crossed for this one.

See you tomorrow!

This won't prove whether or not prayer works, just which god responds better. Christianity vs Paganism: this is about as scientific as it'll ever get.

The Catholics (including those Of Colour, not exclusively white) and Black Protestants are for Obama. The person depicted on the page is white. Do white Protestants believe that skin colour makes one misguided? If one looks darker in a family photo, and another looks lighter in a family photo, who is the misguided one?

@8 I don't think you're right about there being no exceptions to the Redskins rule. Bush vs Kerry should have been a Kerry win, according to the "rule".

@8,
Ah, but that conflicts with the Cheese-Weasel rule.

On the first full moon after Lent in the first even numbered year after a presidential election, a weasel has always been spotted outside farmer Lars Andersson's barn in Oshkosh, Wisconsin eating some cheese - placed there by Mrs. Andersson for this very test! If the weasel picks up the cheese with its paws and takes a bite, then the party whose candidate's last name has the longest letters (alphabetical in case of equal length names) will lose the next election. If the weasel simply eats the cheese while it's on the ground, the party with the candidate with the shortest last name will lose.

This has proven infallible since at least Hoover (the Andersson's are very old).

@7,

I don't know that it's hypocritical. Religious nutcases know perfectly well how cruel and unyielding a theocracy is; that's the whole reason why they want it. So of course they're bitterly opposed to another religion lording over them.

Hey, man, I really, really don't want Romney to win the election. Supreme Court and all. I'm just laying it out there like it is. If it makes you feel better, the Scholastic kids' election contest, also freakily accurate, is favoring Obama this time around.

Bush-Kerry was not an exception. Rather, it was a strong reenforcement of the rule:

The Redskins Rule states, in part, that should the Redskins lose their last home game before the presidential election, the party that had last won the popular vote would go on to lose. The Redskins lost in 2004. What party won the popular vote in 2000? What party then won it in 2004? Even when butterfly ballots and third party candidates monkey around with the process, the Redskins Rule holds firm. If Romney wins the election by capturing Virginia, Colorado, and Pennsylvania (along with North Carolina and Florida), then politicians might start considering forming a cult with the NFL owners and commissioner.

Here's the study the Prayer Romney people think proves that prayer can cure disease: http://sites.stat.psu.edu/~rho/mindon/di…
Basically, they looked at a bunch of studies. Half of them showed dubiously positive effects of prayer (most of them had really shitty methodology) and the other half were meh. Evangelical Romney people doesn't know what science is.

That chart is backwards.

Please wait...
