Okay, after looking through the photo galleries provided (thanks, all), now I feel like I have the proper perspective on just how destructive this storm has been.
@5: And if Romney wins the Presidency, everyone on the East Coast can expect to be told they're on their own. Fuck Romney, and fuck you.
@5: Actually, on further consideration, I retract the "fuck you". I mean, in this particular instance. I still feel that way about you in general, but I make political jabs out of current tragedies all the time, so that's hypocritical of me to attack you for it. Hydrogen fuel cells are a laughable solution in general (at least with current technology), but that's a different discussion.
In fact, wind power and solar can easily be used to split water into fuel cells (50 pct efficient) or pump water up an incline (95 pct efficient) and then run it thru turbines.
@6 is correct. Some nice Bloomberg News pics in their slideshow.

My mom and sister are without power on Long Island.
This really makes the case for a distributed grid based on stationary fuel cells.
The sort of technology that Obama, Immelt and Chu cut funding for.
I bet every New Yorker right now wished he had access to a hydrogen fuel cell more than a FEMA form.
But under Democrats...that's not possible.
