Pre-selling is against the ToS for Kickstarter.
2
Yes.

@1, really? I thought it was how these things worked. Donate $25 you get a CD, whatever. Is it just the dollar-for-dollar amount they don't like?

Plum bistro you just lost a customer. 14$ pancakes is ridiculous. Already having multiple locations and a successful business model and then choosing to have a kick starter campaign to compete against individuals trying to START business ventures is shameful. Take your 14$ dollar pancakes and shove them where the sun don't shine. South of your mouths.

Yeah, precious Plum seems an odd pick for a food truck. (Delicious and all, but I need a Groupon to afford it.)
Now, Veggie Grill...

Pfft. Stop your bitching already. If Skillet can sling their $14 hamburgers from a truck, Plum is free to sell their vegan pancakes and such. And their having a food truck doesn't stop anyone else from starting their own. They're not competing with any of the hot dog, hamburger, pizza, Hawaiian pulled-pork sandwich, or whatever places around town. It's a different market. Show me a fancy-schmancy vegan food wagon that Plum is remorselessly driving out of business. And even if there were such another place, there's nothing wrong with having some variety to choose from.

You might as well curse Linda Derschang for depriving potential restaurateurs of valuable locations, or Molly Moon's for having their own ice cream truck when people with pushcart ice cream stands are trying to make it. It's a local business trying to expand. We like local businesses. It's good when they succeed.

Any money made from Kickstarter will be contributed only by people who want to give it. Plenty of people with successful business models have used Kickstarter. Their projects are usually the ones that have a chance to see the light of day. I'd rather give my money to someone that I believe will actually do something with it. There's nothing shameful in that in the least. And all those ambitious foodies out there are free to start their own campaigns.

I fall squarely into the "I mostly go to Plum with a Groupon" category. I don't envision myself eating at this truck every weekend, but so what? If they succeed with this, we will have one more place to get food at night. That'll be a nice addition to our nightlife.

We will complain about any fucking thing here.

Woohoo! This is fantastic! It's about time we had a vegan food truck. I'm gonna have to scrounge up $25 for this kickstarter campaign.

And I had no idea that Plum has a restaurant in Seattle Center now! When did that happen? Gotta love more vegan options in more neighborhoods. It just keeps getting better :).

Thanks Megan!

The $25 gets you a gift card with a $15 value.

Just to clarify--the $25 gets you a gift card for the truck. It is against Kickstarter rules to list cash value rewards. Thanks everyone for the support, we're really excited!

Please wait...
