All I can say is WTF???
2
Education is the #1 enemy of Republicans.

To his credit, he realized that it was not a very smart thing to say in just seconds. He's said plenty of equally dumb things that we're *still* waiting for some kind of realization on.
4
I guess Santorum's version of love can include killing the object of his love.

Straight up serial killer mentality there.
5
It's a joke you idiots
6
It wouldn't be so easy to attack public TV if the people running PBS didn't melt into a puddle and surrender at the first whiff of criticism, however baseless, from any grandstanding wingnut that happens by.

Yet each man kills the bird he loves
By each let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword!

I thought he was being uncharacteristically funny. The image image of roasting BB in pan with potatoes and carrots, maybe a little fennel. Then he realized "oops -- in my business we don't get to crack jokes..."

He was just playing along with the joke and did it pretty well - it was perfectly funny and normal. I think it's interesting how those on one side of the political spectrum can think those on the other are always "vile" no matter what they are doing. I see that from conservatives who just hate, hate, hate every innocuous thing Obama does and that makes me judge them and think they must be stupid. When I see it from those on the left, it makes me really sad. We're no different, really. Everyone on every side has really weird blinders on.

@9 tru dat.

LOL @ 5

Republicans "Oawwhhh crap I said something stupid - Quick, tell the media it was a joke!"

Santorum was joking. He's just dreadfully unfunny.
Granholm was also joking.

Gingrich was NOT joking.

Conservatives love to masturbate over the idea of killing evil, liberal things like NPR and PBS. Obviously, they could end funding to a thousand PBS's and it still wouldn't pay for a tenth of their Perpetual War Machine, but it doesn't stop them from screaming to their dullard followers about how they'll free them from having to pay for open-minded free thought, and instead only make them pay to bomb brown muslims.

If he was going to kill Prarie Dawn..I'd be okay with it. But NEVER Big Bird!! NEVER!!!!!

Oh, David annoyed me when I was a kid too, but having him killed off would be a bit much. Just some painful torture.

I think Neil deGrasse Tyson said it best.

"Cutting PBS support (0.012% of budget) to help balance the Federal budget is like deleting text files to make room on your 500Gig hard drive"
15
The real issue from that quote, IMO, is that Newt Gingrich only considers Sesame Street a good thing because it makes money (even if it's making money for those pinko-liberal homo-lovin' bastards at PBS, apparently). Not because it's a wonderful show that caters to both children and adults, and teaches very important lessons and skills to children at an important developmental age, for instance.

I'm getting a bit tired of the Republican attacks on NPR and PBS to the point I'm just about ready to say fine cut off Government funding. Won't make a whit of difference where I live I'll still get NPR and PBS the stations in my area are fully supported by donations. Where NPR and PBS will cease to broadcast if federal money is pulled are the rural areas and red states.

Please wait...
