3
Are we going to leave it up?
Cause our witty brilliance was deleted on Wednesday and we feel bad that Slog missed out......

"Do Children Need a Mother and a Father?"

1
DECADES of social science show that married parents provide superior homes.

2
There are very few
very tiny
very poorly constructed studies
comparing homosexual to heterosexual parenting.
those 'studies' are junk science advocacy parading as 'science'.

3
the groups Corvino cites agreeing with him are Liberal advocacy groups. no. we don't believe them.

4
the quarter million children being raised by homosexuals were not rescued from orphanages by heroic homosexuals as Jonny tries to make you believe.
they are the products of homes broken up by their biological homosexual parents. shame on you Jonny......
6
mmmm... tastes like Lawyers

@5 "DECADES of social science show that married parents provide superior homes."

I don't think you're proving the point you want to prove.
8
@5
If "DECADES of social science show that married parents provide superior homes," that sounds, to me, like a good argument for allowing gay and lesbian couples with children to get married.
9
His last point is the strongest...letting gays marry doesn't decrease the amount of children being raised by mother/father combinations! The entire argument is made moot just with that.

oh, we see your confusion-
those DECADES of studies were examining heterosexual married couples.
11
@10 Were they examining Hindu couples? Because I have a political axe to grind with those guys (and gals).
12
The best part of these is the 15 seconds after the credits!
13
@5 so...if children suffer in non-two-parent-heterosexual households, should widows and widowers have their children taken away from them?
14
These are great. I wish I had the ability to produce such well-constructed arguments (about any subject). I remember Maggie Gallagher's videos on Andrew Sullivan's blog a few months ago, where the only thing she could do was say there was something "special" about heterosexual marriage, without ever being able to explain what that "special" thing was. John Corvino is performing a great public service in producing these videos.

that seems a little harsh, R enemy;

perhaps they will remarry.
16
John Corvino has become the new gay man of my dreams. (I won't tell you who he displaced.)
17
@5: There isn't much evidence about gay parenting and straight parenting as compared to each other. Do you know how to construct a proper null hypothesis?

Please wait...
