I didn't observe a moment of silence yesterday either. Should I apologize?
2
I'm sorry..I for one am sick of the orgy of self grief we put ourselves through, well the corporate media puts us through and oportunistic politicians, every year on 9-11 at this point.

So the fact they talked about something brainless and stupid frankly is a breath of fresh air.
3
me either, and I also refuse to apologize
4
I don't think the Today Show needs to apologize for not including a pointless moment of silence. But they damn well need to apologize for continuing more of this Kardashian bullshit.
5
I was about to make a joke about breast augmentation/twin towers. It wouldn't have been very funny but mostly I didn't want to have a Slog "Stay Classy, ArtBasketSara" post written about me...
6
@4 BINGO!!
7
The terrorists win.
8
Why is anybody looking to the Today Show to commemorate 9/11? Are they that central and defining a cultural trendsetter that we need to set our grief clocks by them?
9
Excuse me, but I always look to the Today show to commemorate our nations sorrows. I find Al Roker's antics comforting.
10
NEVER FORGET COLUMBINE
12
Oh, please. How is it not classy to continue with regular programming on the anniversary of 9/11? This was a terrible event, but I'm not going to observe a moment of silence on this day for the rest of my life. Am I not classy? If Today scheduled "classy" programming (an interview with a minister? Oprah?), you'd scream how they are cowtowing to teabaggers and other fringe groups.

I demand an apology for any show that displays anything related to the Kardashians.

That said, How long are we expected to hold a moment of silence or put 9/11 on the front page of newspapers? Are we going to be going through this BS on the 23rd anniversary? How about the 97th? 152nd? When can we stop?

I don't watch the Today show but it sounds like a fluff entertainment show (at least I hope it's a fluff show or I'm really pissed about them bringing the Kardashain BS into it) so why would they have anything to do with 9/11? Is all of TV supposed to stop for a moment of silence on 9/11 forever? If we can make them do that can we just shut all of TV down forever? The world would be a better place.

Agreed that @4 is the Gold Star comment. What else can one say?

Aside from the fact there are more than enough moments of recognition for those lost on 9/11, I actually think it's absolutely appropriate that NBC aired the Kardashian segment. They are a symbol of everything the terrorists hate about America, so it's a symbolic Eff U to them, if anything.
17
@15 - I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU FORGOT THE ALAMO!

... AND THE MAINE!
18
As far as I'm concerned, this is the only way to "commemorate" 9/11.
19
Never forget October 14, 1066 and the Battle of Hastings! One day England will throw off the jackbook of the Norman invaders once and for all. One day...one day

@4 - BEST. COMMENT. EVER.
21
War of 1812! Tell me you had a moment of silence to commemorate the 200th anniversary?

Stay outta Canada y'hear!
22
I respect a good moment of silence even 11 years out, but if they start reading of the names of the fallen, sorry, I'm changing the channel.
