I wish you all a good march and good luck.

But there is still one major hurdle to winning the GOP's war on Women: Women.

There has been this sort of unspoken assumption in liberal circles that somehow the women of this country are in lock step on these issues. That they recognize what their interests are. It's just not true.

The average voting women of America are generally just as fucking stupid and as likely to work against their own self interests as the voting men of America. RE: Sarah Palin.

Rather than attempting to arm yourselves against the cabal of a patriarchy, you'd do better to convince all the other women out there they getting fucked over. And frankly I don't see that happening very effectively.

You know, things like slutwalks only serve to harden the right against sensible policies on women. It functions similarly to a gay pride parade. What better way to make traditionalist men and women comfortable with homosexuals than to go mostly-naked through the streets prancing about like a queen?

Do you think black people successfully protested their effective lack of civil liberties by having huge riots and stealing televisions? The point is that they didn't want to be conceived of as monkeys.

You guys are doing a pretty good job of self-illustrating as stupid, spoiled whores. All your silly demonstrations will be is preaching to the choir.

You don't even make any sense. Perhaps you never heard of Civil Rights MARCHES. That what THIS is. A march. You racist, sexist, fuck-witted troll.

Oh. What's the use. I'm sure you just came in your soiled diaper that somebody replied to you.

@2: What are you taking about? As tkc points out there were marches for civil rights. That woman in the picture accompanying this post is "stupid spoiled whore" in modest little dress? Or is she a stupid spoiled whore for having been raped in her pjs? A lot of people marched last year reproduced what they had been wearing at the time of their assault, myself included. I was a 19 year old virgin wearing jeans a sweatshirt Central Scrutinizer at the time of my attack. You, and your attitude are why these marches need to take place.

Because to you, and people like you, no matter what we wear, or what we do, women will alway be stupid spoiled whores.

You are the problem.

@2- so what you're doing is essentially calling the women who participate in the Slutwalk, many of whom (like the woman in the photo) have been raped, "stupid spoiled whores".

What a complete piece of shit you are. Seriously.

@2

As others have posted, you sure don't make any sense.

Marches have been very successful in gaining women rights, blacks civil rights and gays and lesbians equal rights.

Guess what is one of the biggest days for many cities (in visitors and in $ making) across the US, including Seattle? That's right, gay pride!

The way you are write shows you to be ignorant, backward thinking, not to mention misogynistic and down right racist.

Also, our side is winning; your side is losing.

@1

You don't make much sense either.

The majority of women in America vote for candidates that are committed to protecting a woman's right to a legal and safe abortion, to equal pay laws, better health care, and to legal birth control.

That is why, in 2008, Obama/Biden won big against McCain/Palin in the woman's vote and that is why he will do it again (even bigger!) against Romney/Paul this year.

thank god for slutwalk. so many cisgendered, conventionally beautiful women would have nothing to do with feminist action if it weren't for the slutwalk. hmmm…..

The issue he is raising is why, 30 years after Women's Liberation, do females feel a need to enforce their rights by proxy through male politicians?

Why isn't it Hillary/Courtney Love in the Oval Office, or Condolezza Rice/Palin ?
10
@8

so by all means, let's make them feel unwelcome(?)

@9
Because misogyny is still alive and well in the US.
Just look at Akin.
And how Huckabee is supporting him.

Politics is still an old white guy's club.

@8: I'm not sure what you're trying to say. Could you rephrase please?

@7
The majority of women in America vote for candidates that are committed to protecting a woman's right to a legal and safe abortion, to equal pay laws, better health care, and to legal birth control.

A SLIM majority. My god. It's actually worse than I thought. I figured only a third voted for McCain. No. 43% did.

43% of registered women voters voted for fucking John McCain and Sarah Palin - who were against all those rights. That's tens of MILLIONS of women. That UP from 38% that voted for Dole in 1996 and holding steady from 43% that voted the infamous numbskull GW Bush.

No. Sorry. That is NOT a victory. Can you imagine what the American black community would think if 43% of black people voted for McCain?

Once you narrow that down to under at least one third of registered women voters being hopelessly fucking stupid and relentlessly voting against their own self interests, you cannot remotely assume that American women understand "women" issues and that you've appropriately channeled and communicated those issues of rights to the segment of America that clearly most needs to hear and apply them.

Clearly nearly HALF of American women do not understand what their rights even are or should be.
14
Oops. Not "registered voters" but "voters who actually voted." Still, tens of millions of of women.

Here are photos from last years Slut Walk, which also appeared on NPR's homepage. http://alexchamas.blogspot.com/2011/06/s…

@8 Everyone in the SlutWalk Seattle leadership is very passionate about advancing the rights of transgender and genderqueer people in our state and this country. I know, I'm on the team and I know everyone personally. We try to take time on our blog to point out the intersections between cissexism and rape culture by highlighting the increased risk of sexual violence that gender-nonconforming people face.

I hope everyone feels welcome to participate in the march, and thank you so much to the Stranger for the shout out!

Please wait...
