Many of these people will lose money if the state competes with their co-ops.

And how much will the lead advocates lose if people no longer need to buy authorizations? Those are spendy!

And the drug lawyers? What about them?

Liberals always want to shut down the free market. A private marijuana market with few direct regulations is what these people want. Without profit these patients will no longer prove to be a worthy incentive to stay in the market.

And let's not forget the cartels quietly waiting in the shadows behind the 502 opponents! That's a huge entity that stands to lose billions when 502 passes. Save the cartels!

Amen CF, amen.

There are some for whom compromise is a deal breaker. To them I say what a sad little world you live in. Please don't make us all live there with you. We want to keep moving forward.

I haven't seen such a carefully constructed a piece of writing by Frizzelle since the beginning of the Iraq War, when he called people marching in the streets "fucking idiots" for opposing the invasion. It doesn't really matter how I-502 turns out, the Feds can't allow it to happen until things change in D.C..
5
Agreed, what a bunch of fucking morons. Just pathetic.
6
I know someone who works in the field and is opposed to the bill. His reasoning is that, basically it would put them out of business. Nevermind that they already have the facilities, experience and product already in place. It's about not having that niche market to exploit. I hope it passes.
7
Pathetic and stupid. I'm just about done with Slog.
8
@7 Care to defend your beliefs instead of huffy threats to quit Slog like a child?
9
@8 Nancy's been on for ten days and left 2 other comments in the same vein. Nothing of value would be lost.
10
way to generalize. not everyone at the march was against i502, the march is an annual event that has been around a lot longer than i502. your name calling is ridiculous. why dont you pick on someone your own size instead of talking so much shit about members of your community doing something fun. excuse me, but fuck you.
11
Between this rant/article and the comments opposed and against 502, Slog is starting to resemble the drivel you see on WND or Fox News. Way to go Frizzelle!
12
10,000 arrests per year in Washington State for marijuana.
13
@11 what are you talking about? The article was pro-502 and all but one comment was as well.
15
@7 - Oh good. Anyone who would quit slog over this post really should just go ahead and do it. Slog would be better for it.
16
Interesting, usually when 40-50 idiots march downtown and try to shut down traffic, every Stranger reporter is on the scene breathlessly declaring it a "revolution", with many Slog posts and fantabulous photos.

BTW your fucking Fleuvog ad trolling is really awful. I know you all need to make a buck, but this is too much. Please cancel my subscription.
17
A little harsh, perhaps, but yeah, these people don't really have a clue. Except those in the medical marijuana industry who stand to lose from an end to prohibition. They're just greedy.
18
@17 ...just greedy?

They have businesses, employees, and contracts. Their employees have families and bills. Their partners do too.

'Commitments' might be a better way to describe the motivation of those persons.

19
What a childish rant. Speaks badly of any publication to have an editor write like this.
20
So says the talentless drunk.
21
Speaking of fucking idiots: @20
22
"A bunch of idiots opposed to Initiative 502 is..."

If you're going to call people idiots, better get your subject verb agreement straight.

23
Wow, I don't agree with the political position some people are taking. They must be morons!

I'm sorry, but my high school newspaper had better writing.
24
I've moved from being decidedly anti-502 to undecided but when I hear opponents referred to as "fucking idiots", well, maybe I'll stay in the anti-502 camp. Now the less vituperative approach that provides me with basic facts in a respectful manner is more likely to win my vote.
25
@24 why would you be opposed? Is the status quo working?
26
I'm only here to acknowledge #14's comment.
27
Maybe if they would just smash a few windows, Brendan would write 5000 words in support of their right to peacefully express their politics.

Please wait...
