Yikes - that's a scary picture of him. For some reason he reminds me of Gollum on LOTR (not quite as much as Justice Roberts does, but still...)

McKenna is an arrogant ass who has been biding his time quietly in the AG seat for which he is not all that qualified. No worries though, as gov he'll get all his legislation from ALEC and find ways to shut down all the lower-class uppity females here in WA State who dare ask him questions that he doesn't want to answer.

You ARE a hack though

Let's cut to the video tape:

http://www.rhrealitycheck.org/video/2012…

The person you refer to as a young woman, Kendra Obom, in her torn up jeans, rumpled sweater and ski cap, accosting the AG as he walks in his suit from the Convention Center looks all the world like a high schooler. With her high pitched voice, I'm sure Rob was saying to this cub interviewed "Get a job" with a smirk on his face!

Seriously, is this the best way that a so-called Adult Professional presents themselves to political figure such as Rob McKenna? It's one thing to want to go around like a homeless person, or someone who is 28 going on 16 for the fun of it -- but if you want a serious answer, you have to dress the part. Kendra, Nordstrom and Macy's are hop, skip and a jump away. I'm sure you can do all three, but get some clothes that befit someone who can drink and drive a car!!

Aww, isn't that cute? Little boy Goldstein still has his hate/crush on McKenna! Does that make you bi, since you have a love/crush on Darcy Burner too?

(How'd that go, by the way? Her people ever set up that candlight interview with Ms. Burner for you in payment for all the blatant plugs for her? No? Too bad. More fish in the sea and all that.)

You got kicked out because you aren't a journalist, Goldstein. You are what McKenna called you, a partisan hack. And you're not even good at it. I mean, the only people who don't automatically dismiss everything you say as shrill nonsense are those who already agreed with your shrill nonsense.
5
Seattleblahs, I'd be careful about calling people "shrill" if I were you. That whole pot/kettle thing. As you are someone who regularly gets hysterical about your values, and those of your highly theoretical family, people might get more than a tad suspicious of those sorts of accusations.
6
Are we sure that Joni Balter isn't Rob McKenna in a wig?
7
@3 Ad homin attack, huh? So you got nothin' is what yer sayin'.
9
This is all further confirmation that Goldy is, indeed, a partisan hack.
10
All the other Rob McKennas are just masturbating.

Right if such a person rushed you downtown you'd be so far down the street a little cloud would pop up that said "VROOOOMMM!"

12
@11

If the speed with which Ms. Obom approached the candidate in the video you linked to is something that you consider frightful, then you would see a brine shrimp and think it's a great white shark coming after you.
13
He's clearly a man given to fits of temper. Something you do not want in a governor. Or Attorney General for that matter. When you run for public office you should answer questions from the public, not fume and pout like a child.
14
I could be wrong, but I don't believe that Governor Gregoire has endorsed Jay Inslee.
15
Drunk & stupid is no way to get through life, @4. Although kudos to you for giving it the ol' college try.
16
1. Goldy is a partisan hack.
2. Arrogance and a temper do not preclude achievement.
3. McKenna sucks independent of 1 and 2.
17
Ad-hominem attacks by conservatives show they'll go to any extent to protect McKenna from justified scrutiny during an election campaign. Demonizing their critics is after all the only way they can get so many people to vote against their best interests for so long. What disgusting display of scumbaggery.
18
If that was out of character for him, then I don't want a rep who is liable to act "out of character" when the mood strikes him. If that was in character, then fuck Rob McKenna.
19
@3: When you are a member of the public asking questions of your elected officials, as is your right to do so, you can dress any damn way you please. If they are unable to look at their constituents as being human beings, then they are unworthy of acting as a representative.
20
McKenna's a dick.
21
Seattleblues is a dick.

It's not an "ad hominem" attack to present the video that SLOG has suppressed so that all the world can see who someone who is described as a "working professional" dresses in jeans with holes in them.

23
@3

Um hmm.

So try this next time you're on a sales call with a client or in a meeting with your boss. Wear clothes that look like they came from the dumspter behind the Goodwill and an inexplicable wool skiing cap in July. (Seriously kids, what the hell is with the tramp sense of personal style?) Don't wash your hair or face, or indeed your body. If you're a man don't shave, if a woman leave the remnants of last nights make-up from the clubs you were at until 3:00 AM. Slur your speech and fill it with 'Like, what do you think of, like, my proposal?'

After that and what results, tell me that appearance doesn't matter. If this woman wants to be treated professionally, dressing and acting professionally would seem to me to be a good first step.
24
Goldy,

You are a partisan hack, more of a college sophomore writing for a socialist newsletter than a real grown up journalist.

The Stranger has some good up and coming writers, you are not one of them. Pretty sad for a guy around his 50s.

Did they hire you so they would have someone more pathetic than Mudede?
25
@23: Since sartorial decorum is so important to you, as indeed, as a costume designer, it is to me as well, I promise that when we meet, and I call you a liar to your face, that I will be wearing a suit and heels, and even a strand a pearls, for your benefit.

Anytime you feel up to it pal.
26
@3: Oh puhleez. You do your job. What you wear hasn't a fucking thing to do with how you do your job. If you want to insist that anyone who is "serious" has to wear a three-piece suit if you're a man or a dress with nylons, lipstick and full makeup you're living in the status quo and think that in order to either have a "real" opinion you need to wear some sort of professional drag. No one will take you seriously.
27
@25

Actually, when you call that liar a liar to his lying face, it's required of him to be dressed "professionally," not you. You still get to dress any damn way you please.
28
@22,

Spare me the mind-numbingly stupid talking points. She isn't a "professional" but a woman youth worker who dresses the way many people dress today. You dimwitted nincompoop.

It's pretty obvious from the torrent of abuse hurled at Kendra and Slog writers that they hit the mark. MCKenna's attack dogs will sling mud at anyone trying to find out where he really stands on issues.
29
Personally, I don't know why Bailo doesn't just say she's a black girl wearing a hoodie while some concealed handgun in her pocket as a huge pack of other hoodie clad black girls surrounded the candidate. It would be just as accurate as what he's already said.
31
@25

As much as a cup of coffee and trading insults with someone whose view of the world is diametrically opposed to mine is SO tempting, think I'll give it a miss...

Again, look up words before you use them. I mean, words like homophobe or (my favorite for the 'what are you, 10?' prize, hater) don't mean anything anyway. They're just made up liberal bullshit. But bigot or liar do have real objective meanings. You should educate yourself on these before you employ them in discourse.

32
@31: "homophobe" doesn't have a meaning?
"homo", from the Ancient Greek for "same", truncation of "homosexual", "same-sex".
"phobe", from "phobos", Ancient Greek for "fear". Modern connotation of irrational fear.
"homophobe", one who has a(n irrational) fear of same-sex attraction.
This is what Seattleblues does when he doesn't like something: he pretends it doesn't really exist and was fabricated as part of a massive liberal conspiracy to be mean to him.

P.S. "hater" means "one who hates"
33
@31

You misplaced your closing parenthesis, missed a comma or two, and used the wrong kind of quotation marks for America, thus rendering your comment nonsensical. Please revise and repost, so that we can understand what you're trying to communicate..

I been to a couple of events McKenna's hosted, attended mostly by the who's who of Seattle's legal community. McKenna could barely control those rooms. Plenty of Republican lawyers I the room too. McKenna is generally seen as a backhandedly arrogant blowhard by the people in this town who know him best. Watching him resort to "if you don't listen to me I'm going to stop this evening from going forward" was rare theater of the pathetic.
35
He, like the rest of the Republican Party, is focused on the conservative right, not the independent middle - likely, once again, an epic failure for that party.

Please wait...
