He's not just a nut-case, he's a dangerous nut-case. Thankfully, this will come back to haunt Santorum if he ever gets the nomination. (Which he won't, so I'm not gonna lose sleep over it.)
2
But nothing about Mormons?!? C'mon, preacher man. You can say it. It's o.k. Teabaggers will come to your defense.
3
I love how the closet case in the American Flag Drag and blond bouffant leaped to his feet at the bit about defending traditional marriage. You can spot 'em a mile away.
4
He forgot to mention Dios.

"As long as they continue to kill little babies in our mother's womb..."

So many things to say about that one little snippet of a sentence. But the one that's at the top of my list is: if his mother is having so many abortions, maybe he should talk to her about contraception directly. If "they" are doing this against his mother's wishes, outlawing abortion isn't going to stop "them". He needs to intervene with his mother, not the congregation.
5
This dude doesn't even know that his god's name is not Jesus. Jesus is the son and 1/3 of the trinity, not the name of the one god this preacher is talking about.

Also, this dude is fucking crazy sauce. I find these people to be scarier than pretty much anyone else. I don't understand this kind of thinking or rhetoric. Or how they think it's doing any good at all.
6
God, what a whiner. Where would conservatives be without their bogeymen? and even if the country was founded as a "Christian Nation", who cares? City Light started as just street lighting, but expanded into residential electricity because PSE wouldn't serve poor neighborhoods. Times change, organizations evolve. Get over it.

White and old. The younger ones are all obese. That congregation isn't long for this world.
7
Dude, wtf? The God of Abraham is Yahweh/Allah, not Yeshua of Nazareth. And no one worships Buddha or Mohammed. NO ONE.
9
Seriously can you imagine if anyone even remotely associated with President Obama called for jews to leave the US? Let alone someone actually introducing him at a rally? It would be blanketed across every news station (not just Fox) 24/7 from now until election day.
10
dude's handle is 'pastor dennis terry' of greenwell springs baptist church of greenwell springs louisiana.
.. and it is way too cold and early in the morning to have to endure his crimson faced yelling
11
I say to this guy, that if he doesn't like it the way we do it here in the United States, then he can just GET OUT.

Seriously, this is one scary, scary guy. The idea that people are listening to this and nodding their heads, let alone jumping up in applause, is absolutely terrifying.
12
@5

Everyone knows God's name is Jealous. It says so in the Bible!
13
The part I like is the way he says he is tired of not being allowed to say those things. While saying them. In a big room full of people and cameras (anybody know if this was in a church, or in a public hall?)

Dude, nobody says you can't pray. They just say you can't make other people pray, that everybody else's day doesn't have to stop while you pray.
14
Actually, I believe that he was saying that someone who doesn't respect the freedom of religion as he sees it should leave; I honestly think that that was what he meant by 'the way we do things'.

This is an attempt to be charitable to an opponent, not to assume bad faith or at least not the worst. It's a good exercise, and it helps keep one from living in an echo chamber, but it can't cover the distinct smell of Mosselmänner heraus! in it.

Note that I believe that his take on freedom of religion---the freedom of a particular religion to set public policy on the basis of its faith-claims---would probably make Jefferson vomit, and (more importantly) me as well.

And I'm sure that he wouldn't want to kick out the Orthodox Jews, as long as they don't try to doodle Christian girls or object to ubiquitous public Christianistic displays and harangues.
15
@13

Right on! What he said.
16
@14

Speaking of the vomitus of various founding fathers, How about that Jefferson Bible?!? Damn, we need to publish more of those!
17
As he frothed, it sounded like he said God intended marriage to be between a man and a lawman.
18
Does Santorum realize that Israel is full of them Jews?
19
Why do all these fundamentalists choose to ignore the fact that the Founding Fathers were Deists? They simply believed in the existence of a higher power. They also believed in freedom of religion, which is why they put that in the Constitution and founded the country on the separation of Church and State.
20
"Christian," my fucking ass. What you're looking at there, my friends, is fascism. Fascism of the most rabid kind, the kind that picks groups to scapegoat, to subjugate, and in the worst permutation, to slaughter.

You don't have to be Jewish, or Muslim, or Buddhist, or Hindu to fear these fascists. They'd merrily persecute other Christians, too. For example, Quaker belief of what Christianity is all about is so diametrically opposite theirs that we'd be in the cross-hairs almost right away.

I was at a Jewish funeral in the South, and a Baptist friend of the bereaved daughter was there. I was sharing a bit about my recent conversion and membership in The Religious Sociey of Friends. She was initially enthusiastic, but as soon as she realized we don't share her dogma, she looked like she was going to have apoplexy and at me like I had Ebola virus.
21
I think a Godwin is pretty justified in that case, right?
22
"there's only one god" - oh, so close, just off by one there.
23
Wow, he even punctuates this rant with the "Seig Heil" salute... incredible.
24
What a faggot.
25
#6, thanks for relating this to City Light and PSE. Made my day...
26
Yeah, this was in my town. I'm not proud of it.

Greenwell Springs Baptist Church is one of the most hate-filled of the many hate-filled churches here in Baton Rouge. And his diatribe about not being able to say those things in this country...he's in Louisiana! The freaking governor says them in news conferences!

But just so you don't think the whole town is this way...the Interfaith Federation of Greater Baton Rouge includes most of the mainline Protestant and Catholic churches in town (none of the Southern Baptist Churches have opted to join), the two synagogues, the mosqe, a Hindu temple, a Buddhist temple, the MCC church, and a secular humanist group at LSU.

This is the church website if you are interested...not that they care if you call them out on their hateful bullshit, because obviously you are among Satan's minions.

When fascism comes to America, it will come wrapped in the flag and waving a cross.
- Sinclair Lewis
28
Ignorant cracker. He should flunk his theology classes retroactively, assuming he didn't get a degree by mail-order.
29
there were rational arguments for a catholic church & against what henry the 8th & martin luther unleashed - and this pastor's ignorance was one of them.

This guy hasn't even seen the definition of Christianity.

Do that to others for which you want to be returned to you by them. Here is couple links that give you more knowledge on how I have come up things to be due to my research. You don't have to follow these links. You are welcome to do so if you so choose.

First link goes to my own Facebook Notes page in which I explain how our feelings work and how you can intepret them with better understanding of how your own attitude affects them. The second link goes to my project in which we research the other half that is missing in our global economic system. Wow. That was scary as fuck. I would loooooove to see this guy in person so I could punch him in his fat throat.
32
@8 If you can stand another 19 seconds, the real money shot is from 0:58 to 1:17. Pretty close to a perfect Eliminationist-Dominionist cum-sprite.
33
I am so tired of Christians.
34
@24 - that gave me a case of the lulz that belied to my coworkers that I was working.
35
@21 - Godwin's law only states that the probability of a hitler/nazi reference becomes 1 as the discussion thread increases in length. A topic including a christian fascist simply will reach the probability of 1 for a Hitler/nazi reference with fewer discussion threads.
36
You can get the number of protons in a boron atom wrong, you can't get your own take on your religion wrong. Hell, maybe this guy is god's latest prophet finally come with the true word.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that Tony Perkins was the moderator of Santorum's talk. I cringed when I saw that on the news this morning. Greewell Springs was just the nexus of hate yesterday morning.
39
Colbert & Jon Stewart have made careers off the stupidity of the extremeist right-wingers & tea-baggers! There will always be more *hot-air* fuel as long as these holier-brained keep spouting off!
40
He didn't get 10 seconds in before being completely and utterly wrong... this country was NOT founded as a Christian nation. There's this wee bitty, silly little document called the Constitution, which establishes IN WRITING the fact that this is NOT a Christian nation, or a religiously-based nation at all. In fact, in my history books, this country was established as a safe haven for all people being prosecuted for and by religion...
41
It's nothing but fear talking. He's so afraid of change, of "otherness," that he can't stand it. What's scary is that because he's so insecure and fearful, he - like the rest of the right-wing mob - would "take a nuclear weapon to a wasp." I feel sorry for them because change IS coming; but that doesn't mean that I don't also fear him and his ilk. Many people will be hurt needlessly because of his and his followers' fear.
42
From their own Bible: Matthew 7:15-16, New King James Version (NKJV)

15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits.

'nuff said.
43
"I'm tired of people telling me that I can't say those words."

I doubt anyone has ever told this man that he can't say those words, unless he was trying to say them in the context of a government funded and organized event. In that case it is the government's show and they get to set the rules for it just as his church gets to set the rules for their show.

"I'm tired of people telling us, as Christians, that we can't voice our beliefs or we can't no longer pray in public."

I doubt anyone has ever told this man that he can't voice his beliefs or pray in public.

"Listen to me. If you don't love America and you don't like the way we do things, I've got one thing to say: GET OUT!"

I reckon that's one bit of advice that this gentleman can take for himself. He's the one complaining about how things are, so I guess he's the one that - according to him - should leave.

"We don't worship Buddha. I say we don't worship Buddha, we don't worship Mohammed, we don't worship Allah. We worship God. We worship God's son, Jesus Christ."

Setting aside the technical errors in his comparative theology, if this guy is saying that Americans are not Buddhists, Moslems, Jews, members of any of dozens of other faiths, or atheists, then he is just factually wrong. There are non-Christian citizens of this country. Since I suspect he is aware of the fact that a number of American citizens are not Christians, I can only conclude that he is saying that non-Christians are not true Americans. That's an interesting idea - the division of citizens between technical Americans and true Americans. Of course, I could make a stronger case for the idea that anyone who doesn't believe in freedom of religion isn't a true American, so that would eliminate him from the national identity instead of most of those that he would exclude. Ironic, isn't it?

I'm going to skip over the whole part about abortion because I couldn't make much sense of it.

"As long as they continue to tell our children they cannot pray in public schools or pray in open public places today."

As long as there are math tests, there will be prayers in schools. No one has ever told children that they cannot pray in a public school. They just can't lead people in prayer if those people didn't choose to participate in prayer. What's so hard about that? Pray all you want, just don't rope other people into it without their consent.

I don't get anything that he was saying about the economic recovery being driven by a Christian revival. That just didn't make any sense to me at all.
44
Seriously? People jump to their feet and applaud this man? Can they really not see what is wrong with what he is saying? Has the intelligence of the American public fallen so low that they accept this ranting and encourage it?!?!?! This might just be the saddest illustration so far of just how far America has fallen off the track of decency, integrity, tolerance and love. This man belongs in a ragged tent, somewhere out in the boonies where people have no contact with the civilized world, doing his "snake oil" type speel on a hot Saturday night in 1950. We can only hope that his audience and ones just like this one will wake up and see this for the hatred and disgustingly UNChristian rhetoric that it really is.
45
Lots of grey hair in that crowd...
46
This is the local news coverage of his visit. The video is worth watching.

http://www.wbrz.com/news/rick-santorum-c…

My favorite quote:

"This race isn't about the economy, it's not about jobs, it's not about security, this is about something bigger, it's about freedom, it's about what kind of country are we gonna be, are we gonna be a country that's ruled by an elite group of people who tell us how to run our lives, that tells us what to buy, how much to buy, how much to pay for it; or are we going to be a country, of limited government, where people have the freedom to buy whatever food they want to buy, buy whatever light bulbs we want to buy,"
47
Why don't they show his introduction of Santorum? It's edited at several points, why couldn't they tack on the introduction, just to show that he did have some sort of tacit approval of the campaign? They just show Santorum at the end, standing (could be anywhere) and clapping like he's kind of bored. Not showing the introduction makes me question whether that's really what this is (instead of maybe some crazy rally Santorum wandered into unaware, which could happen to anyone on the campaign trail). I don't know why they couldn't make the association explicit.
48
We'll see come November, but I am still betting that the over-vocal crazies of this nation do not represent even the mainstream right--let alone America.

I think this 30% of Americans are really scaring the lefties and moderates, and are even pissing off a lot of their conservative allies. I think the majority of this country see them for the problem that they are.
49
Ricky boy says President Obama is dividing America yet he has a preacher, who wants most Americans to get out of the US, introduce him. ::SMH::
50
The God of Issac and Abraham was NOT Jesus!! They were WAY before Jesus. What an idiot!!
51
I am an extremely devoted Christian, but I can't stand this type of "preaching". Professional (look up the meaning of "priestcraft" and see what the Bible has to say about those that practice priestcraft) hate-mongers that, to me, lack any Spirit. I sure don't feel God's love when listening to that garbage. Like I said, I'm Christian, and very strong in my faith, but I would never impose my faith on anyone else. We have to respect each other, no matter what religion, or no religion at all. The Founding Fathers had it right to separate Church and State - to keep government from establishing (favoring or founding) any particular religion, and to allow the free exercise of religion (no restrictions placed on which religion - there's no list of "approved" religions). These types call themselves conservatives, but there's nothing conservative in declaring that only one religion is to be tolerated in this great country of ours.
52
@43, you hit the nail on the head. I also thought that if he hates America's religious liberty so much, he should be the one to leave since freedom of religion is right there in the First Amendment.

I also agree with @7. This is a pet peeve of mine because I was raised as an evangelical but converted to mystical Judaism in my 30's. When I did I discovered all the stuff fundamentalist Christians think about Jews and the "Old Testament" are wrong from a Jewish standpoint.

Rev White starts out saying that they believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, but then says that God is Jesus. Last time I checked the Torah, Hashem (Adonai - God) is never once called Jesus or any version of that name. Hashem has several names in the Torah - just a few are Adonai (Lord), El Shaddai (the One who says enough), Elohim (the judgmental aspect of Hashem), and the actual name of Hashem, Yud-Hei-Vov-Hei, which was only pronounced by the High Priest on Yom Kippur and which is commonly misread as "Yahweh", even though there is no "w" sound in Hebrew. (Mystical tradition teaches that this name is unpronouncable and is actually the sound of one's breath.)

The Ten Commandments (which Christians are so hot to adopt) says that you shall not worship any other gods (or other things or beings) before Hashem, so in my view, anybody who claims to worship the Hebrew God, but then says they also worship Jesus is breaking that commandment. They are idolitars. Either you worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob as laid out in the Torah, or you worship Jesus. They are NOT the same.

(Sorry, but I get a bit pissed about this only because I was taught so many wrong things about Jews and their beliefs. I find Christianity's supposed adoption of the Jewish texts and then their rejection of 98% of what is taught in it to be incredibly hypocritical. Add that to the fact that fundamentalists interpret it literally, which is the lowest level of Torah interpretation in Jewish study, and then tell everybody else that is how they have to read it, and I get a little steamed. Thank you. Getting off my soap box now.)
53
Hateful fool should be baker acted. Notice the crowd. All 40 to 60 year old white people. And I beg to differ foolish sir, christians in America are the key to hate, division and chaos. Amen.
54
Get non-Christians out of the country? Get your crazed, arrogant fundie religion-penis out of the country that belongs to Native American tribes like the Cherokee and Mohicans! I'm absolutely sick of watching America continue to act as if the Aboriginals are immigrants in a "Christian" nation, and I'M CAUCASIAN! Then again, I'm also Canadian, and we up here understand the sins against humanity that the settlers committed, and the sins that the church continues to commit against community and humanitarian progress.

In short, I hope these people suffer for their offenses against the goodness of mankind.
They are the fire that burns our hope to cinders.
55
"Abraham's God". Wait, hold up, hey, aren't Judaism and Islam Abrahamic religions? Wow, this guy needs to read a book or something.
56
Speaking as a man of Native American descent you can all swim back to where ever your lying, cheating, thieving, murdering ancestors came from.

Christianity is a death cult and its followers are monsters. From the money grubbing TV ministers and presidential candidates to the child raping papists - they are all mentally ill - a danger to others like rabid dogs.
57
This isn't Rev. White folks? Did only me and one other person actually go to you tube to see this is pastor dennis terry? Consider the source folks. Research.
58
because Jesus would want that....right?
59
@52: Brofist, amecha. You just about summed up my theological issues with Christianity, as a (Reconstructionist) Jew. I'd add to your list of grievances the Christian idea of an entity of supreme evil comparable to God, or even the possibility of a fallen angel for that matter.
60
I knew this guy reminded me of something.....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uk2Fbjtsa…
61
what a hypocrite, talking about how tired he is over not being able to voice his beliefs and then brings up the persecution of many other religions in the same sentence.
62
What a hypocrite... He talks about tired of having his religion persecuted publicly then goes on to persecute others in the same damn sentence.
63
Jesus would recognize this hateful man as a latter-day Pharisee. Right away.
64
@32 - You sully the good name of cum-sprites everywhere by suggesting that this bat-shit crazy blowhard is one of their brethren. Although, he did say that he was bothered by perverted sex becoming mainstream, which I can only assume means that he wants to keep his perversions as dirty and sinful and shame-inducing as possible...so perhaps he does qualify as a cum-sprite.

And seriously, Santorum's a Catholic! He doesn't believe in one God, he believes in the Holy Trinity. According to the preacher, Santorum is one of those who doesn't believe that Jesus is the one and only God...so I guess that means Santorum should be hauling his papist ass out of the U.S.A. any time now.
65
He didn't get 10 seconds in before being completely and utterly wrong... this country was NOT founded as a Christian nation.

NotAHandmaiden @ 40 - your big mistake here is trying to talk sense & logic to these creaky, batshit bizarros (note that the average age of the audience is ~ > 70) ...you would have better luck reasoning with a cement block.

They would be scary except that the truth is there is a relatively tiny number of them - i'd guess around a few million at most in the whole country i.e., nowhere near the numbers that our corporate media if fond of throwing around. And if Santorum were somehow to be nominated - which i don't even think the Republi-cons are dumb enough to do - he would lose to Obama in the greatest landslide in American history.
66
Wow. I couldn't even get past "There is one god! And his name is Jeeeezus!"

Really? If your one god is Jesus, why aren't you a communist? Why aren't you all about giving selflessly to the sick, the poor, the old, and the hungry? Why don't you say "fuck being rich, there's people to help out there!"

And just as importantly:

https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hph…

So, ah, what's this crap about hating your neighbours?
67
You take out everybody over 60 from that crowd and what do you have left? The janitor and the IT guy.

Today I learned what it sounded like to be in Germany in 1939.

"The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control." - Galatians 5:22

Somehow, those aren't the adjectives I'd choose when describing this preacher.

Can we recreate this? Please? A phrase for phrase, no-holds-barred, same accent and cadence liberal recreation of this speech? I'll stand in an audience and cheer for that. Hell, I'll give the speech.

1.) No, this country was not founded as a Christian Nation. Basic history lesson.

2.) Yes, kids are allowed to pray as much as they like in public school on their own. Teachers, however, are not allowed to make students pray, for they are the part of the government and they are not allowed to make actions upon students that suggests a preference of one religion over another, for "freedom of religion" applies.

3.) "Christians in America are the key to the revival". You're an idiot.

4.) "Put god back in the statehouse". Never was.

5.) Against abortion and contraceptives -> boost up the population -> revival of the economy. Makes perfect sense.

6.) This guy has no clue what he's talking about.

NO ONE said people can't pray in public. They said you can't FORCE OTHER KIDS to pray and follow religious rituals they don't believe in. People pray in public ALL the time. This guy doesn't know what he's talking about. Seriously
75
If you turn off the volume and just watch him, he looks like he's yelling at someone. I mean, really yelling at someone.

2:35 looks downright violent.

I thought Christianity was supposed to be about love?
76
I'm numb to this usual hate. I could re-post this on FB, and my classmates from Illinois would say " And...?" This is the norm for that section of the country. It is unmasked and self-righteous ignorance.
77
As a life long conservative Republican I am absolutely offended by this self-deluded, materialist that appears to look surprisingly like a Christian. If this isn't Adolf Hitler's private preacher, who would be? I can see by his weight how enlightened and happy he is deep inside. There is only one sub human species on the planet, they are called racists, and they in fact posses the low animalistic qualities they assign to those different than themselves. We should discriminate against the violent and hateful as they are the true sub human brutes ruining our species. This country needs to focus its economic problems, which never arise from religious differences, therefore they are totally irrelevant to the discussion we need to have on the federal budget. And didn't western civilization attempt a religious form of government that is now referred to as the Dark Ages. This is the USA, not Hitlerite Germany. I think there was a reason the Bible makes clear that Jesus hated the sin, and loved the sinner. Backward thinking persons have a long term effect of retarding our progress. I contend since every thing, animal, plant, complex societies evolve, evolution is the design of our Creator. We just discovered it in recent history, so its not in scripture. It seems evident to me that all those that retard evolution are not cooperating with "thy will be done." Regrettably, they are holding all of us back from having richer, more deeply intimate, and spiritually higher relationships with the Lord. When truth stagnates, it turns rotten and can fester. I am so disapointed, that after all our history fighting tyranny, and our declaration that all men are created equal, that this preacher is what we have to show for it.
78
I could have sworn he said "Put God back in the steakhouse." If he had, it would have been the most sense he made in the entire speech.

Please wait...
