The candidate seems very nervous about having his kid on live TV. Maybe he should do the kid and himself a favor, and present his ideas in his own voice. It'll save on therapy in the long run.
Ugh, that dude just oozes that he's a smarmy grifter. The comparison to the balloon boy stunt seems apt. Thankfully the polling seems to suggest that good people of Rhode Island aren't enamored with him:
He came out the worst of all the challengers to the Democrat incumbent. These polls were a few weeks ago, but I'd be surprised if this appearance helps him.
Where'd you come from?
- Mississippi
And your parents?
- Very wealthy.
Where are they now?
- Six feet under.
* But she was granted one more start
- The convent of The Sacred Heart!
I'm guessing that there's a 3rd person, off camera. That 3rd person is typing the responses into a teleprompter. The dad is just moving his lips as he reads.
@15 It seems unlikely that a 5 year old would be reading off of a teleprompter. My guess is they had the questions before the interview and had rehearsed answers to the questions. The dad is just having some sort of Pavlovian "stage mom" response to hearing the questions.
This right here is why I say that people shouldn't involve children in politics. If this guy seriously thinks his kid is helping his campaign for any other reason than the fact that Dad asked him to, he's insane.
Honestly, until I saw that interview I thought the ad was funny. Nothing wrong with sending your message with a willing child actor, right?
But...now....uh....
Maybe they're looking at a monitor showing themselves, so when the dad moves his lips, the son can tell which pre-scripted bit to say?

His mouthing of his son's words is uber creepy.
