Reminds me of a joke.

What's the difference between a mafia skimming operation and an American multinational bank?

The mafia doesn't have ATMs.
2

Past Due, sadly, I think the Bank of Italy (later BofA) started out as a legitimate, honorable business. I could be wrong, I don't know that much about its history.
7
Bank of America could be purchased by the Mafia when the US government is too broke to bail out Brian Moynihan's baby a second time.
8
Don't forget that the original name of BoA was "Bank of Italy" when it was first founded in San Francisco.

@7@8

Bank of Italy was indeed the progenitor of BofA, founded by A.P. Giannini, and he was no mobster - he was one of the first banker's to look out for the little guy, and he loaned money after the SF quake on a handshake. His history makes a good read, sounded like a pretty fair fellow. I was living in SF when that last of the Giannini's resigned from BofA, saying the bank had totally lost it's way from "AP"s principles

@2

wins the thread

1906, Banco D'Italia takes purchase in San Francisco California etc...

Also, Roberto Calvi.

Is any of this really news or it just, "Remember! Be scared of the silent market!".

3% of the GDP? Wonder what % of the GDP our 1%er clubs, prison gangs and street gangs account for stateside.

@8 White bread? I have a feeling I'm much browner than you are. Much, much browner. ;-)
