@ 2, I feel sorry for you. You're always right there, ready to jump on these posts, and say the same old shit. Do you have some kind of alert set up, or do you just spend all day hitting refresh?
@4 I know you are joking but years ago I actually came upon this whole Santorum business from that angle. I was like "Wow, sucks to be this guy, having that for a last name." Then I got all the backstory and felt stupid.
well, it's a good way to appeal for funds--poor victimized "conservative" needs your money. please help him overcome his "google problem" with your donation today!
"How dare these liberals attack us, when all we're guilty of is advocating policies that marginalize and threaten an entire segment of the population for no reason, other than because our twisted moral code and frothing base of homophobes and racists demand it!"
Riiiight. Because getting your face out in the media MORE is going to make people stop saying mean things about you. Whatever you tell yourself to feel better at the end of the day.
@9 I like the way you misspelled ignoramus! In Santorum's case and others of his ilk, it's a far, far better description of them to call them ignorANUSes. Don't know whether this was freudian or intentional, but either way it's a keeper!
This would be interesting if Santorum even had a chance of getting the nomination. Instead it's just a rich white guy crying, claiming "victim" status. *yawn*
I for one am looking forward to hate activist Dan Savage's next book, based on his highly successful "It'll Get Better for It if It Puts the Lotion on Its Skin" project.
Um, Mr. Would-Be President-Guy, why do your kids have to Google your name anyway? Don't they know who their father is already? What, they have to look it up?
I too feel sorry for folks with the Santorum surname, raindrop. I mean, it must be horrible to have people think one COULD be related to Rick Santorum, or (shudder) ACTUALLY be related to him (shudder 2x). I'm not even going to touch upon how utterly awful it is to actually BE Rick Santorum.
Dan isn't always right and I'm sure he's not perfect, just like everybody else. But it utterly baffles me how Santorum can call the guy who came up with the "It Gets Better" concept a "hate activist."
But then I remembered he's a complete fucking asshole, and it all made sense.
Which is better: "is famous for taking shots at true conservatives like me on his show" or "is famous for taking shots on his show at true conservatives like me"?
@33 I think it should be "...is famous for taking shots at true conservatives, like me, on his show". Though, to be honest, bad grammar (if it is that) is the least reprehensible thing about this man, especially since he undoubtedly didn't write this letter himself.
It's seems to me the only job Santorum is in the running for is Dan's press secretary. Who needs a real one when you have this idiot doing it for free!
What, you mean like some bigoted homophobic shit-for-brains claiming that having sex with someone of one's own gender is EXACTLY like fucking your dog? And publicizing that view far and wide on national media? Yeah. Imagine that.
@46: Wait, does that mean that Savage already has a line of shirts proclaiming the wearer as one of his flying monkeys? Because that seems like it should be the first one to the screen printers, in my opinion.
I realize this analogy has already been done to death in this situation, but for fuck's sake... somebody finally takes a swing back at the heretofore-unchallenged bully and not only does he act outraged, he runs off blubbering to tell the teacher and get a consolation cookie since somebody picked on him.
I just want to say how hilarious it is to accuse Rachel Maddow of pushing smut, given that she seems to blush every time she has to report on something even remotely sexual.
What Mr. Savage and SL readers did to Santorum was really mean, especially considering that it affected everyone with the last name "Santorum."
However... When it comes to belittling and degrading, the part where he called all homosexuals no better than child molesters and practitioners of bestiality does give his statement a stink of hypocrisy or at least hey-wait-a-minute.
So yes, donate to Rick Santorum's campaign. It's right over here at humanrightscampaign.org. Make sure you write "RICK SANTORUM" nice and big.
Santorum has not EVER and will not EVER represent the Pennsylvania I love.
I'm quite unhappy that he's back in the media lately making my beautiful state look bad. We Pennsylvanians are not bad people or ANYTHING like this jerk, I can promise you that. Even the nut-job rednecks in the 'tucky part in the middle of the state. He makes those crazies look sane. He even makes the gangstas in North Philly look tame, because they're not hypocrites... I mean, they shoot people and stuff, but they don't go around saying they don't.
And, unlike many Pennsylvanian children, his spawn CAN google their father's name because they go to wealthy private schools in Virginia that can afford such an important thing like the Internet... whereas there are still kids around here that don't have that necessity.
Ah, the reasoning of a conservative.
The Nazis came to power using the same belief structure. What a coincidence.
STill #1 in Google search for Rick Santorum!
Let's keep it up there: www.spreadingsantorum.com
But then I remembered he's a complete fucking asshole, and it all made sense.

"is famous for using his show to take shots at true conservatives like me" would flow a little more smoothly.
Maybe it's the lube.
If this is giving you the urge to donate, consider the "It Get's Better" project rather than the Santorum campaign.
"like you and me" perhaps?
Also, how the hell does he forget the 2 weeks of unending Anthony Weiner coverage by actual mainstream media outlets? What a fucking baby.
What, you mean like some bigoted homophobic shit-for-brains claiming that having sex with someone of one's own gender is EXACTLY like fucking your dog? And publicizing that view far and wide on national media? Yeah. Imagine that.
our Danny has stepped in it.
his performance on Maher WAS vile.
and beyond the pale.
please don't be surprised if our Danny isn't on CNN anytime soon
and 'hate activist' Dan Savage actually is a pretty perceptive description.
IGB is about blaming xtians.
the suicides are just collateral damage in Danny's hate campaign against religion.
as you were......
Well, it is an exercise in creative writing, so I guess so.
However... When it comes to belittling and degrading, the part where he called all homosexuals no better than child molesters and practitioners of bestiality does give his statement a stink of hypocrisy or at least hey-wait-a-minute.
