Your headline's "be kowtowed into" is awesome. Is there a word for this, when straining reults in a pun that means the opposite of what the writer hoped?

Funny. Kowtowing is a 19th-century colonialist trope. Where did you do your research? Wikipedia?

Great article, and here are a couple questions for you: (1) Former SAM director Derrick Cartwright said during the conference of US-China mayors, held in Seattle a month ago, that he was working to bring pieces from Xi'an's terra-cotta army to Seattle for a show. Do you see SAM facing a similar dilemma as MAM down the road, if not now? (2) There is currently a Facebook group (FREE AI WEIWEI: DAY 100) pushing for museums worldwide to publicly honor Ai Weiwei on July 12, the 100th day of his detention, either with a one-day closure as per Anish Kapoor's call, or via some other credible alternative. What's your sense of SAM's willingness to participate in this event, if it really does pick up enough steam to actually happen?
